LOVED our stay at Coco Grove. We are not fans of large resorts, but this is an exception. Even though our first 2 nights the resort was full we did not feel like there were lots of people. The property is huge, villas and rooms are spread out amidst lush tropical foliage, there are 3 different & good sized pools in different areas. 3 food outlets. A decently equipped gym. A nice gift shop that doesn’t mark up the items exorbitantly—we found it very reasonable. Very well planned resort. Staff are just lovely—very sweet, attentive and helpful. Everyone. From drivers, front office, restaurants, spa, cleaners, gardeners, guards, lifeguards—all really just genuinely nice. I greatly appreciate how the staff are kind to animals too. Went to the Spa 3 nights for massage—ask for joy—I had one of the best aromatherapy massages from her (2 nights—my first and last; the masseuse I had the other night was mediocre). And if you prefer hard massages ask for a Swedish deep tissue massage from Fretzel, she was excellent according to my partner. We stayed in an ocean villa. Very spacious with a good sized bathroom with separate shower and bath tub too. There are also shelves and closets to hang clothes. Rooms are cleaned daily which we appreciate (if you don’t want yours cleaned daily let them know when you check in). It was wonderful having the beach & sea “at your doorstep.” Our stay was very peaceful. The Sanctuary Villas are at the opposite end, near the spa and in a bit more private area, we’ll probably request that for next time. there isn’t anything wrong with the Ocean villas (which are near the dive center) it’s just there was more foot traffic in the area than in the sanctuary. Internet is good in some areas and weak to none in others. Food is ok, portions are good. Decent selection for breakfast. For vegetarians the vegetable curry in Salanandas is good, Thai inspired better than at the Beach Bar. The fries and the stir fried vermicelli noodles w vegetables at the Beach Bar were better than the fries and the vegetarian pancit (these noodles were thicker) at Salamandas. Don’t forget to say hi to Macky, their rescued Brazilian Parrot We’ll be back, coco Grove is on our list of favorite beach resorts!

I came to Xidao to stay for three nights. On the first night, coco had no room. I chose a cheap hotel nearby to deal with it for one night. The result exceeded my expectations.
Although the rooms are simpler, the public facilities are great. The swimming pool is huge, and children like to play in it. The seaside scenery is also beautiful. You can also dive, and you can stay in the lobby for a long time. The Internet speed is super fast, not the Philippines at all.

The whole hotel is very nice, just a little small, only 9 rooms, for 26 guests. But the room is large, the hotel is quiet, the holiday is very comfortable, the pool is small, breakfast is average. Diving (three times the market price) and calling a car are relatively expensive, and the restaurant is slightly more expensive than the outside. All service staff are very good. But I don't understand it. It's a good hotel. The road into the hotel turned out to be a few hundred meters long country bumpy road. It was so boring that every time you take a TUTU car, you must be dizzy. The kitchen is good, but I think it's a display, because if you use the kitchen for 100US/day, it won't cost you a lot of food at any restaurant outside.

Hotel environment is very good, breakfast is relatively simple, there is a spa center to make an appointment, lunch and dinner are eaten at the hotel, the price is not expensive, tastes good. From the hotel to the apo island, the tutu car gave 200 pesos. The driver should be very satisfied. He also asked to leave the phone to pick up the boat. He went to the apo island to charter 3000 pesos. After boarding the ship, he also collected the life jacket, the island fee, the snorkeling fee, etc. 300 pesos.

I'm conflicted by my stay here, so I'll just lay out the pros and cons. Pros: Absolutely great dive shop. First and foremost, thank you to Gabby who was my divemaster for all my dives. He is phenomenal and a huge asset to Mike's. Jonathan who manages the diving also provided good service. The rental gear was in excellent condition except for the booties which have seen better days but got the job done. They took me and one other guy to Apo island which I do not think is a profitable trip for them with just 2 customers, but they knew how much time we had at Mike's and made it work for us. Gabby also took me out on a solo night shore dive (which was incredible). Not all dive shops will do this. Corri who manages Mike's also provided excellent customer service. She responded promptly to my emails and then gave me her number so I could Whatsapp her to coordinate a transfer from the ferry. And then after I had an issue with my A/C (see below), she thanked me for saying something so I told her all my complaints as they happened (nothing in this review will be a surprise to them), and she did her very best to resolve them. She never once blamed me as being high maintenance, at least not to my face. And really, I'm not high maintenance. Mike's just has some issues that it needs to address. The wifi was really good and it worked in my room. This is a big deal and a rarity in the Philippines when you get outside the big cities. Mixed: Mike's restaurant has a fairly large menu, and there's a full page of Mexican foods as Mike himself is from California, where I lived for many years. I had the seafood burrito and it was bad. The seafood itself was fine although perhaps not the kinds I would expect to see in a seafood burrito, but ingredient availability plays into that. The real issue is that the flavor was well off. Now perhaps I was foolish to get Mexican food in the Philippines, but I think that if you put something on your menu, you should be proud of it, and this dish was not something to be proud of. Corri did tell me that she and Mike were going to order the seafood burrito the next day and reevaluate it, so again I appreciate her taking my complaint seriously. On the other hand, I had one of the Filipino soup dishes (I can't remember the name) and it was tasty. The breakfasts were also good. So food is a mixed bag, and perhaps you'll be fine if you stick to breakfast and Filipino food. Cons: The biggest con by far is that the bed is uncomfortable. The mattress is a 3 inch piece of soft foam. That simply doesn't cut it. As a side sleeper, my hips were hitting the slats below. Corri again took my complaint seriously and brought me a second mattress to put on top of the first. This helped but these mattresses are so soft, it's still not conducive to a good night's sleep. I stayed in several other places across the Philippines during my trip, including places significantly cheaper than Mike's, and all of my mattresses

I love this hotel. i have stayed here now many many times, and i have NEVER had a bad experience, so i thought i would finally write a DESERVED GOOD review. The Hotel is placed right at the heart of Dumaguete, everything you would want is with a few mins of the hotel, the hotel also provides trips to some of the popular tourist attractions. The rooms are always clean and fresh with daily room service, but in my opinion the only thing that lets the rooms down are the showers which sadly could do with more maintenance as often they are faulty in some way and poorly kept looking, but they still provide good supply of hot water. I have stayed in all of the rooms they offer, from their suite to the standard rooms, and all show the same levels of cleanliness and the rooms always feel welcoming. Free breakfast is provided and the restaurant is good and the food well cooked and presented , the hotel provides a full range of pampering service if you require some self indulgence. The staff are ALWAYS friendly polite professional and on hand for any reason and will always make you feel important and a valued guest. I have in all my stays at this Hotel had only ever had one problem which was dealt with professionally, immediately and satisfactorily,. This hotel is ALWAYS my first choice when i visit Dumaguete, and will continue to be so They have plenty of rooms and even as a walk in, i have never been turned away from being fully booked, Its always a pleasure staying here.... See you next time !

good, very good, excellent! The best hotel on Dumaguete. First of all, the hotel has a shuttle bus to wherever you go. When a group of friends come to play, it is like a nanny car. It is very worry-free. It can be seated by many people. Seeing the previous comment that the hotel is far away. Personally love this place. About 20 minutes away from the city, it is very quiet and suitable for vacation. After all, there is really nothing to see in the city. Then the hotel's breakfast is very rich. I haven't eaten it all after staying for a few days. delicious! In the end I came to learn to dive, the hotel will have this service. The coach who took me was Layla. Laughing Chinese Girl! Rich teaching experience, and one-on-one teaching is very detailed, it is really much stronger than the one-on-six outside. I originally wanted to confuse the diving card, but there was no chance! Some projects I was afraid of accompanied me slowly to overcome! When going out to dive, I encountered some situations that I was afraid of when I was studying. Fortunately, we have overcome them, otherwise we will get a certificate, and when it really hits the water, we will bring it to the dog. Thank you Teacher Layla, you took me to start this fascinating project! Hope she can see this comment.

The hotel is simply excellent! The rooms are large, overlooking the sea. There is no beach with sand, since the hotel is on a cliff, but everything is equipped to go down to the water and swim. There are boats and inflatable rings. Not crowded, quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed. The owner of the hotel, just a wonderful person, always helped, asked if we were comfortable. Delicious hotel restaurant. You can wash things. Very responsive and hardworking staff. Thank you very much for your attention)
You can see a turtle and many interesting fish. If you are on this island, be sure to visit this hotel! Bonus photos taken by the hotel owner while we were kayaking.

DDEJINGIt feels like a very new resort, next to the beach in the south and a well-known local bar in the west. The environment in the room is super good and the rooms are very large. Each room has a set of outdoor tables and chairs, clothes rails, a swimming pool in the middle. , And you can watch the sunset. It's just that the Internet isn't working. The entire Siquijor Island hotel, even if the coco network is not good, collapses.
GGuest UserSet back from the bustling streets, high above San Juan, excellent service. Top notch staff.
And very good cuisine.
All in a superb exotic garden and a fantastic swimming pool.
Well done
GGuest UserThis resort is a gem for it is not common to have backpacker-friendly places that offer the resort experience. Located right in front of Solangon Beach but when tide is too low for dipping, there is a swimming pool where you can hang out. There are hammocks too if you are in the mood for lounging. There's a restaurant serving food and beer. If you want options though, other resorts are within walking distance and accessible along the beach. Staff are friendly and ready to answer questions about boat schedule, tours and even laundry service (priced at Php60/kg). Most of their accommodation are cottages but one big room is converted into a dorm with shared shower and toilet that are kept clean. Room is well-ventilated but there are stand fans if you have low tolerance for heat. Unlike typical hostels though, they do not have outlets/light in each bed. Siquijor mostly operates on cash but this is one of few places that accept GCash.
EEmily Rose LWe want to thank the owner Gri and staff at this lovely hotel! The warmth and welcome we felt was phenomenal, as well as the service. The highlight of the stay was the gorgeous pool and view. We loved beginning and ending each day with a dip and hearing the waves crash as we fell asleep. Magical! The flowers and trees on the property are stunning and the rooms are comfortable and reasonably appointed. The beds are firm by western standards but being that we are Americans who live in China, we love this for our backs!
We ate breakfast every morning and one of our dinners in the hotel restaurant and it is very high quality, tasty food. I especially loved the organic spinach and homemade dumplings, as well as the mapo tofu- YUM! The fresh fruit each day was crisp and delicious and I LOVED drinking coconuts by the pool. Thank you, Cherry! Coffee is for purchase at the restaurant, not in the rooms.
The location of the hotel is quite remote, meaning it is peaceful and quiet. I recommend you arrange transportation for excursions in advance each day, or rent a scooter, as waiting for a tricycle can be long. We were told that you can swim and snorkel in front of the hotel but the tide was too low when we tried one day. However, there are snorkels and kayaks for use in the hotel!
The hotel is still developing some of the water activities available. The pool is deep enough for diving courses, but check to make sure they are ready, as the gear is still in order as of Oct 2023. There are snorkel and dive spots a short ride away, however, and you can ask for help at the desk to book a tour or connect with a dive shop.
NNicOniqueTravelled yesterday to Siquijor, and unfortunately, the hotel I booked is 45 minutes away from the port. I found this haven online. I went there and luckily there's one more room available (20 mins away from the port) Surprisingly, the room is in front of the beach!!! sliding doors made of glass made it much fantastic. They just have fan rooms, and electricity interruption on a daily basis for only 15 minutes. They have wifi at the bar and resto but phone's reception is not good here. If you're looking for a place to relax and get away from a stressful city, this spot is perfect. To make it 5, hopefully they'll have rice meals that's good for one pax only. Food are really good, except the weird sinigang (pork tamarind soup) with carrots haha. Staff are friendly, especially ate in the morning taking care of the restaurant. They know English, tagalog and their dialect. Overall I am happy and wanting to be back there again soon. :)
Tahanan has a wonderful location with amazing views. Our room was comfortable and quiet and had a beautiful sea view. (And a cute little goat in the garden!) The food is great, with a menu ranging from pizza to to sushi and a good selection of cocktails. The staff was friendly and helpful. We rented a motorbike and the staff gave us great tips on where to go to explore the island. We had an unforgettable time and can't wait to go back!
