The room is very clean and the owner is very enthusiastic and will introduce you to the surrounding supermarkets and restaurants. And we can arrange taxi transfers to and from the airport at prices lower than metered fares. The location is very close to the National Museum and China Street!

Nice place on the inside but hard to find. The entrance was a small blue door with a tiny sign that merely said “69.” Like many city hotels, there was no off-street parking (curb parking was a tow-away zone) except a tiny tight space shared with the hotel owner. There was no in and out and it cost $12 extra a night. The hotel was reasonably priced with nice rooms and a great breakfast but it was fenced in razor wire and it was unsafe to walk around at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was also a VERY LOUD streetcar 100 feet away that ran well into the night and started early in the morning. It wasn’t mentioned in the hotel’s description. It woke me up a few times. There was food within walking distance: Costa Rican thick sausages with salsa at a stand next door. There was also a KFC and a Pizza Hut nearby. It’s within walking distance of downtown San Jose with several sites (museums and such) and a Chinatown area.

Very friendly and helpful staff. All staff especially Winston went the extra mile to make one’s stay an outstanding experience. Welcoming, clean, safe and secure. Fabulous breakfast . Highly recommended. An oasis in a large and complex city.

Wenn ich je wieder nach San Jose reise, werde ich dieses Hotel auf jeden Fall wieder buchen!!
Lage - ca. 15min Fussweg von Zentrum entfernt!
Service - sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit!
Frühstück - Kaffee/Tee und frische Früchte kann jeder sich selber nehmen, so viel er möchte! Es werden frisch aufgebackene Brötchen mit Butter und Marmelade und dazu ein typisches Frühstück serviert!
Ausstattung - die Zimmer sind gepflegt, dauber und verfügen über genügend Platz und haben sogar eine Klimaanlage. Auf dem Dach des Hauptgebäudes befindet sich eine Dachterrasse mit einer gigantischen Aussicht!
Würde dieses Hotel jedem empfehlen, da es klein und überschaubar ist, aber trotzdem hat das Hotel alles, was es zum wohlfühlen braucht!

What a lovely find this little hidden away place is. Quite difficult to find but worth the effort. We had. Fab breakfast with a varied choice . Lovely and helpful people. Everyone dropped everything to try and help mend my phone when I had a problem!

Hinter einer sonnengelben Mauer verbirgt sich dieses kleine Hotel mit ca. 12 Zimmern auf zwei Etagen, sie umringen einen begrünten Innenhof mit Wasserspiel. ein weiteres gegenüber der Dachterrasse. Wir hatten vielleicht das angenehmste King-Double, #8, da es rückseitig der Treppe liegt und andere Gäste nicht am Zimmer direkt vorbeilaufen müssen. Ein großes 2 m plus-Bett, drei großformatige Bilder und ein riesiger Spiegel hinter dem Bett geben dem Raum noch mehr Größe. Dazu zwei Sessel; Tisch und Stühle draußen zum Innenhof, Safe und Minikühlschrank runden das Ganze ab. Aus der Dusche kommt recht schnell heißes Wasser. Der Frühstücksservice war sehr freundlich, wie überhaupt das gesamte Personal. Frische Eierspeisen werden nach Wunsch zubereitet, die man im mit Bananenbaum verzierten Innenhof genießen kann. Zur Begrüßung beim Check-in wurde ein Glas Wein angeboten, sehr freundlich. Wir empfehlen den hoteleigenen Fahrer-Service vom Flughafen für $30. Man wird direkt hinter dem Ausgang mittels Schild erwartet. Kleiner Nachteil: ab 5.30h fährt der Vorortzug laut pfeifend halbstündlich direkt hinterm Haus vorbei.

Superb B&B with the most welcoming hosts you’ll ever meet. Casa 69 San José isn’t a fancy hotel, but it’s extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. My room was spacious and had everything I needed. Yes the hotel is quite close to the train tracks, but during my two nights there I didn’t hear the train at all. So the trains are either pretty infrequent, or I was literally unconscious! I slept really well and wasn’t disturbed by any noise from outside or by other guests. Breakfast is served 7-9am and it’s not to be missed! You can help yourself to tea and coffee, as well as fresh fruit. You’re also given fruit juice, freshly baked bread, and eggs of your choice. Casa 69 is just a 20min stroll into downtown, and the hotel is surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars. I really enjoyed my stay here and if ever I return to San José this is where I’ll be booking.

Winston and his team were amazing - they were friendly and helpful. The property was great - reasonably priced, nice breakfast, clean, colorful and located very close to Barrio Escalante - great coffee and dining options. The train ran by during the day and early evening but didn’t bother us. We stayed for 3 nights and would definitely return!
