Good, safe, clean hotel with two swimming pools. Near to Maya temple, Caracoal. Two hours drive. It will be my unforgettable experience.

We stayed at CalPech for 4 nights with a family of 4 in March. We requested two rooms adjacent and the hotel placed us next door to our kids in large rooms facing the beautiful skyline, each with wide hammocks on the balconies. The beds were fine and while we didn't spend a large amount of time in the rooms, they had all the amenities we needed. The sunrise with birds and bunnies is a beautiful start to the day and the sunsets and the views are hard to beat in any other property in San Ignacio. We wanted a place that was relaxing, had an on-site restaurant, and was close enough to walk to town. CP met all those requirements. Our son wanted to play basketball and could walk to the local courts down the hill from the hotel. We always felt safe, and the staff helped secure our tour and cars to and from dinners. We ate at their restaurant a few times, and I would consider it the lowest of their selling points. It's fine for very basic burgers, pizzas, and breakfast, but it's just not a wow. The pool is so gorgeous, but note that what "looks" like a hot tub is not. When I asked the desk staff, they said no, there is no heating element anywhere in the pool. It would have been nice after a long day of adventuring. Tours: We booked our airport transfers and all of our tours for that area through the hotel. We booked our ATM cave tour with them, our tour guide Eric was great and sized up the abilities of our small group quickly to give us the most challenging routes in the cave. ATM is truly an adventure and not for everyone. It is a long commitment in the dark, in water for 3+ hours in tight spaces with a lot of crowds, and climbing. For our family, it was humbling and prompted many profound conversations for our kids about what the Mayan went through. They will remember this tour for their entire lives. As a last-minute decision, we hired a driver from the hotel to bring us to the Belize Zoo. All of our hotel drivers were so kind and shared so much about their country; we felt a connection with each of them and were appreciative of the conversations. The Zoo was another awe-inspiring visit, and doing the Jaguar Experience and getting to meet Chiqui close up in her cage was something we would never be able to do in the US. On our final day, the hotel booked a Tikal National Monument tour for us. The hotel driver takes you to the border crossing, passes you off to another person who basically stands at the immigration office while you go through, and then connects you with a driver on the Guatemala side. I won't lie, I had a moment where I thought "what have I gotten my kids into," but alas, we got in a car with tinted windows with a man wearing sunglasses and a hood named "Coco," and we were off on another amazing adventure. Coco was the person from the whole trip that my kids talked about for weeks after. He was a local Guatemalan and taught us sooo much about his country. Coco made our day by bringing along Guatemalan fruits, stopping at local s

Long steep hilltop resort overlooking the town so do not try to walk here with luggage. Three pools at multi levels and multiple terraces to look over the town and sunsets. I first stayed in chalet 406 then was moved to 402. Room does not have a fridge but the hammock was nice and fully enclosed with netting for bugs. You will also get birds or owls sitting on the thatched roof at nite to give an outdoor feel. I could not walk the long hill up/down each day so would get tours to drop me in the town centre. I did not have breakfast as my tours kept picking at 7am. Right next to the resort is Cahal Pech archaeological site which should not be overlooked. The foot of the long steep road are supermarkets and restaurants. Short walk to town centre for more shops and services. Hot water takes time to arrive. My issue was the erratic wifi. Each chalet does not have its own router so in room 406 the tv would not connect. They have internet tv only not regular channels. I was staying for six nights and erratic phone connection and no tv was not what I paid for. They moved me to room 402 which had its own router and tv worked to connect to youtube but still erratic phone connection. You can book any of the tours with them and all tour companies will pickup. Each day were people from the resort on tours I had booked online. They also arranged airport return shuttle. Tv or wifi might not be a big deal for everyone. I would stay here again otherwise

We had an adorable thatch roof cabana with a gorgeous view of the city. Screened in porch, hammock and surprisingly comfy chairs. The restaurant and bar was beautiful, especially at night. Food was great as was the service. Very special thank you to the sweet bar staff and to Wendy for taking such good care of us at breakfast. We will miss you guys!!

Our whole time here was fantastic. Having them organize our transportation and tours was such a huge benefit. The property is lovely, especially the cabin we stayed in. The view across the valley is stunning. We especially loved the hammock in the screened in porch. Very relaxing!

A beautiful location with stunning views from the cabanas. The food and drinks at the on-site restaurant and coffee shop were very good and fairly priced. A real bonus is having your own terrace in front of the cabana with a hammock which is protected by a fly net. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Ample parking available. We would have liked a fridge and safe in the room but otherwise loved our stay here.

Awesome resort at the top of the hill overlooking San Ignacio. Beautiful view of the town and the sunset/sunrise with a pleasant breeze. Walking distance to Cahal Pech Maya ruins. Friendly staff with a great restaurant and bar. I will definitely be staying here again when I travel to Belize.
