I could not wait to leave. Rooms cold, dark, sparse. No TV, no Internet. Internet only in reception and restaurant. Lighting in bathroom almost non-existent. On arrival, the room smelled of sewage. Flies and Mosquitoes flying around in the bathroom, as the vented windows would not close. Asked to be moved but the hotel was full, so they came and forced the window shut and put something over the broken pane. I killed the Mosquitoes and flies. Went to dinner and had trout, which was lovely, but unfortunately, the potato wedges were almost raw and inedible. We ordered drinks and sat by the log fire, as by now it was pretty cold as this place is high in the mountains and cloud forest. We tried to get further drinks, but we were told that the bar shut at 8 30pm! As the staff tidied up around us, we realised that they wanted us out. So back to the very cold room, with one ridiculously small electric fan heater. On the bed was a six legged insect the size of a walnut and a spider. The room was very dusty. We slept badly. The shower next morning was dangerous. Cold one minute, then boiling hot the next. The room and bathroom were cold. Breakfast was very basic, the toast tasted weird, like it had been on an oily hotplate. Only eggs and beans and rice as other choices. The breakfast room was cold. The fruit was nice. The gardens are beautiful. However, this is not an experience I would ever wish to repeat. I've had more comfortable holidays in a tent. The area is beautiful, but I would recommend finding a better hotel.
