Close to Union Square and public transport. Friendly, helpful staff. Room was as described, everything we needed for a one night stay. Rooms and corridors a little dated but okay. Pastries, fruit and coffee at breakfast time was an added bonus.

The accommodation was about a 5-minute walk from Powell Station and the room condition was good. The bed was soft and fluffy and the staff was friendly and nice!

The hotel is in old British style, with red telephone booths, football game tables and free lemonade in the lobby. A deposit and a $10 tax per person per day are required to enter the hotel. We only stayed for one day, so they charged us $200. The front desk said that $180 would be returned to my debit card account. Since I had already paid the room fee online, the hotel did not give me any receipt for the charge, but only verbally promised to return my deposit. It has been a few days since I left San Francisco, and the $180 has not been returned to me. I am a little worried because I paid with a debit card.

The hotel itself has a lovely old fashioned feel inside and out. All of the staff we encountered from check-in to check out were friendly and helpful.
Rooms are small but ours had a walk in closet and a nice deep tub for soaking. Fresh coffee, pastries and fruit are a perfect way to start the morning. We will be staying here again on our next getaway.

The location is excellent. It is within walking distance of Powell Station, where the cable car, tram, and BART lines converge, and it is easy to access anywhere in San Francisco. The free pastries and coffee available from 7:30 to 10:00 in the morning were also very delicious. The room was also reasonably clean and not a problem. I will come back when I come to San Francisco again.
