It is a quaint hotel in a great location. Breakfast was satisfactory for the price and everyone was friendly. It is also in a great location for taking the cable car.

It's close to Powell Station. There is luggage storage and the staff are friendly. If I had to say one thing, it would be great if the room had a refrigerator.

What a fabulous find Hotel Cornell de France was! Stayed for 4 nights in a deluxe queen with breakfast included. Location was quiet yet was really handy to the cable cars and buses so super easy to get around. The room was very clean and staff were incredibly helpful and polite.Bathroom had nice big shower with instant hot water and toiletries provided. Breakfast was buffet style with cooked options or cereals, toast juice or coffee and really yummy fresh warm croissants. Definitely recommend and will stay here again.

This is a great little hotel in a prime location. The checkin experience was very pleasant. All the staff were nice and friendly. The hotel felt very homey. Chinatown and Union Square are both walking distance. Lots of restaurants nearby. The room was very quiet at night and the bed was super comfortable. I’d recommend here if you are a sensitive sleeper like myself.

Hôtel parfaitement situé près d'Union Square avec un personnel très sympathique. Le quartier est très sûr. Le style et la décoration sont très originales. Ca change des hôtels standardisés. Notre chambre (Premier Queen) était spacieuse, propre, au calme (nous étions sur l'arrière). Grande salle de bain agréable. Petit point négatif : le ménage est fait rapidement entre deux nuits. Petit déjeuner copieux et avec des vraies assiettes et couverts! Ca aussi ça change. Il n'y a pas la climatisation, mais ça ne nous a pas manqué car même en plein été, il ne fait pas trop chaud à San Francisco (17° Celsius ; 63°F). A côté de la réception, une petite salle avec table, chaises, réfrigérateur et four à micro-ondes est mis à disposition des clients. Appréciable.

Characterful is how I would describe the Cornell Hotel de France. Decorated in a very traditional provincial French style, it's a unique experience which is very different from the usual big chain hotels. Firstly, I have to say that the hotel room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. I had a "comfy" room - the cheapest - and it was perfectly acceptable, a good size, with a en-suite in great condition. The staff were great, the breakfast good, and it's very well located in downtown San Francisco, 5 minutes from Union Square. It's also right on the tram route to Fisherman's Wharf. The décor is quite quirky, the plumbing perhaps not quite up to modern standards - but this is an old building and so you should be prepared to make a few adjustments. The lift is a marvel, and we loved the bear! This hotel is not trying to comply to the norms of a vanilla chain hotel, and if you like things just a little different, this will suit you!

On our business visit we stayed here great location and amazing hotel. Everything is on walking distance. Rooms are clean. Great view from the window of the town. Walls and room are French style. 100% recommended. Front desk in friendly check-in.
