Located in Gaslamp, near convention center and sports venue, this clean, well-staffed hotel boasts beautiful, quiet rooms with great beds. It also features a great pool area with complete facilities.

As a local I love conveniently valeting my car and heading to the spa followed by a lunch at the rooftop pool! Thank you Camden, Josef and Alex for the wonderful service!

A stay at Pendry San Diego rewards nicely with premium accommodations and a commendable level of service. I had two different stays this month, one in a suite and the other in a regular room. My suite overlooking the pool was fresh, clean and modern. Honor bar was adequately stocked with libations, snacks, and soft drinks. Bathroom was roomy with a large shower with dual his and hers shower heads. Ample lighting in bath and a good amount of towels provided. King rooms are a little tight but equally well appointed. My “city view” king room is what passed for an FHR upgrade on my second stay. The “City View” is mainly the Margaritaville Hotel and pool deck with peek-a-boo view of the Padre’s ball park Jumbotron. Bathroom is smallish but has a nice layout. The rooms also have trendy decor with lots of millwork throughout. Slippers and bathrobes provided although the robes are slightly undersized. No extra blankets in the rooms or suites but provided upon request. Dining options exceeded expectations in every way. I experienced In-room dining, Provisional, and Lionfish. Can’t imagine a better way to start the day than having breakfast at Provisional. Expect over-the-top service and wonderfully prepared food. All of the servers were outstanding; however, the manager lacks situational awareness. While the hostess was away, she left us standing there way too long when we arrived for a breakfast seating. She pretended like she didn’t see us until my guest walked over and got her attention. She just stood at the bar staring at some drinks with the bartender. Based on the blatant lack of care for customers, I’m pretty sure she will gone in 6 months. Horrible! Don’t know why Lionfish doesn’t have a Michelin star. Truly exceptional dining experiences during both stays. Started with a thoughtfully curated, shareable kale salad. Next came the main: filet mignon, which comes with a wonderful reduction that delights the pallet. Asparagus and sweet potatoes as accompaniments made for a memorable meal. Things I didn’t love: Most of the valets are great, but one guy left a trapped fart in my rental car one evening when he retrieved it. It was so disgusting, I had to keep the windows down for five blocks! I could almost understand it if I was a bad tipper but I’m a $20 guy and double if you load my bag. I’m still looking for that guy to tell him what a prickly move that was (notice I added the “ly” at the end). Valet at your own risk! The hotel has a planet-spoiling love affair with plastic water bottles, which is no bueno! Refillable aluminum is the new standard for premium hotels with water machines in each floor. Sadly, Pendry has an opaque turndown policy that no one explained upon check-in: suites get nightly turndown automatically while regular rooms only get the service upon request.
