I had a lovely stay at this hotel. Located in the busy but convenient Hotel Circle area, it was a challenge to get there. I have forgotten what it's like to drive on the freeways in this area. Staff was most gracious. Most rooms were located (at this slow time) in the rear Balboa Tower. Elevators can be quite slow. One broke down one morning but was fixed within hours. Housekeeping is decent. They give you 500 points for each morning you elect not to use their services. There was a tray of dirty dishes on the floor next to the housekeeping storage room. it remained there the entire five days I stayed. Not a good thing. There are no room safes. This for me was a big no-no. Think carefully about choosing this place if the safe is essential. Dining options are very limited at the hotel but there are plenty of places to enjoy nearby. Old Town is a ten minute drive and Mission Valley Mall is ten minutes in the opposite direction.

Very pleasant stay! Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room and spacious. We decided to try the breakfast brunch on Saturday morning and were NOT disappointed! Delicious and plenty of options "Juan" was so attentive! For dinner that evening we decided to try the Sports Bar...again "JC" and "Mel" were super helpful and attentive. We'd highly recommend this location!

AC was broken in one room / not hot water / rude evening staff/ locked out in parking lock when late return from going out had to walk around building to get in. broken Jacuzzi and ******* or hotel didn't offer refund or anything. Hotel could be nice if they fixed all the little things that are broken

It was an ok stay. The staff was friendly but the hotel and rooms need look old. I’ve stayed in many hotels in this area and this one definitely needs a remodel.

The hotel is now being used to provide shelter for new immigrants and these guests are unfairly treated. The California State pays this hotel to provide shelter to these guests, however the treatment that they receive is far from "guest like". Staff opens guests' packages and removes any medications and any items at their own discretion. I sent a package for a friend who was staying at the hotel and because the package arrived 1 day after the guest was gone, package was opened and items were distributed among the staff, instead of returning the package to the sender. It is illegal to open any packages addressed to another person. I spoke with one of the members of the staff: Mary Toscano and she said, and I quote "items from the package were discarded". No other hotel does this to my knowledge. These actions are unfair and even illegal.
