My experience traveling to the ****** was terrible! The number of cars and other vehicles on the freeway was unbelievable. This was on Thanksgiving Day! Worse that I’ve ever seen. Now for my stay, it was the best room and related facilities offered, including professional services and booking. The ****** was filled with fumes from smoking customers, but this was to be expected. Otherwise, everything else was clean, well maintained, and available. I wish the Buffet was opened, but best wishes I can only pray for. My dinner was good except when a person is used to their dinner Mom used to cook don’t match, it can be a little disappointing. However, the final outcome was satisfactory. I would do it again. The travel returning home was better because I left early 5:30 a.m.

Booked a two night stay here when I was in the San Diego area for work. While the property is aging, I can see that they try to maintain its upkeep pretty well. Unfortunately, there were some issues of concern that made the experience less than amazing. I wasn't expecting an Intercontinental (I've stayed at two ICs this past year) - but being that it is part of the IHG, I was expecting at least decent service. Pros: * The IHG website/app were having issues due to the hack. I finally was able to book a reservation, but called the morning of to confirm. Todd was friendly and efficient, was able to confirm my reservation (booked directly through the hotel), view preferences and noted my late checkout request. * Lili was the front desk agent when I checked in. She was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. She also was able to notate my late checkout request for 2pm. * I reached out to Lili shortly after checking into my room and noticed what looked like pet hairs (see attached photos) in a corner of the room. She expressed genuine concern after I showed her the photos, and had Yolanda stop by with a vacuum cleaner. * Centrally located to groceries and restaurants (walking distance to Trader Joe's!). * Courtyard view rooms have better noise insulation from the road - a good thing considering that the hotel property fronts a major roadway (Palomar Airport Road). * Rooms have a mini-fridge, which is helpful since most hotels don't offer one. * The hotel's on-site restaurant, Stratus - was open everyday for breakfast/dinner - their buttermilk pancakes are great. Cons: * The pet hair situation led me to wonder what other shortcuts was taken (or not taken) in turning over the room. If you look at the photos, this wasn't a stray pet hair here and there - the amount of hair should've been noticeable if the turnover was just a bit more thorough. * The wireless internet kept cutting out throughout the stay. I'm not sure where the router is, but perhaps the hotel can consider adding a few wireless access points throughout the property, since the signal kept getting dropped. * The walls are thin. I was next to a guy that played his TV on at full blast - it sounded like a concert every night. I could hear vividly his phone conversations (colorful language) too. * Late checkout was inconsistent. Todd noted my request initially over the phone - he said he would be able to offer 1:30pm. Lili upon checkin, confirmed it for 2pm. My card stopped working at 12:30pm when I left to move some of my belongings to my car. I waited behind 3 other guests before I was able to be helped and Veronica asked if I was still checking out at 1pm. I mentioned the later time that Lili offered and even pointed out that had my card still worked, I wouldn't have lost 30 minutes waiting in line and probably would've been able to check out by 1pm. * When I finally managed to get back into my room to remove the rest of my stuff, I went back down to the front desk. Which had four

The environment is good, next to the sea. The swimming pool is nice. I booked it for my friend. It is close to the places to play. The service of a big brand is guaranteed. I will experience it myself next time if I have the chance.

Absolutely beautiful and very peaceful here! The service is exceptional and the view that we have of the pool is just breathtaking. My son and I are very much enjoying our stay here! The rooms are huge and the food at the the oaks is also very delicious. Lauren was my server and she’s so sweet and attentive thanks again for my wonderful experience I most definitely will be returning! Also I forgot to mention they have real fire places and they offer a complimentary fire log for every night you stay there, really sets the ambiance.

Long-time Diamond member here, 950 nights, 9 yrs Diamond Status. Room was quiet. Slept well. Shower was warm with good shower head. Staff was friendly if somewhat not totally informed (more on that in a bit). Great location next to the racetrack and near the ocean. Interior area of the hotel is totally enclosed. Large jacuzzi- warm, not hot, water (I like that). Why 4-stars instead of 5? 1. Front check in area does not have a lot of room for parking your car. No parking spots in that area. You need to go behind the ticketed gate and park which is not near the entrance if there is no room. 2. Parking is $27/night, not cheap. You are not in downtown SD or near the airport. 3. Buffet breakfast is $25, not cheap, but a great breakfast. 4. Restaurant is definitely not cheap; but the salmon was awesome and well presented. 5. I needed to haul a lot of my stuff out of my car to my room b/c I was doing a 3-day event at the racetrack complex and did not want to leave my valuables in the car. B/c there was no room to leave my car parked. I could not take a dolly to my room, I had to park by my room. (My room was not near the front desk area, and that was on the opposite side of where I had to park.) There are 3 entrances besides the main west lobby- one in each direction. My room was on the north wall. I was told there was a ramp right by my room. Alas, the only ramp was on the south entrance. Stairs everywhere else. It took me six trips to get everything into my room from the car. This was particularly vexing b/c I had had knee surgery and am still learning how to walk. 6. The San Diego Padres were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers in a playoff series at this time. B/c the game was on Fox Sports 1, it was NOT available in the hotel room. However, it WAS available at the restaurant/bar where you could spend money. Come on, you can do better. One cable program for the entire hotel, ok? In reality, I would rate this 3-stars except the location and the quality of the food are excellent and parking is not cramped.

This place could have been a great place to stay. Pros: It is just outside Julian, in Wynola. The beds were nice, the bathroom looks like it had been updated. The check-in was through text message, and they give you a code for the door, so no key! It is also right across the street from a great bakery. Cons: Communication. I got a text message with the wifi code, and I tried it, but it wouldn't connect. My friend also could not connect. I texted and didn't get a response, so I called, and assured him that I used all lower case and I put the code in properly. He said he would turn off the router and reset it. I waited, and tried it again, and it still wouldn't connect. I texted again, and got no response. I called again and was sent to a voicemail box, but there was never a beep, to leave a message. So, we had no wifi. The air conditioner is right over one of the beds, so it is blowing on you. It is either on or off, so I turned it off because I didn't want it blowing on me all night, but in the middle of the night it got hot. Then I was using my hair dryer in the bathroom and suddenly it stopped working. I plugged it in to another outlet and it worked. That outlet in the bathroom stopped working. Difficult to do your hair with a blow dryer plugged in to an outlet in another room, and no mirror. Also, it would have been nice to have a full length mirror in the room somewhere. Overall, would not stay here again.

Worst IHG experience ever. We showed up and got a room that had a nice view but you could tell this hotel has seen better days. They were clean and minimal but everything was worn out, out dated and discolored. We were there for the scenery though so we were fine. It rained that night and once the rain stopped we stepped out of our room and into a big puddle. Whatever we were not letting these things bother us. We were just grabbing something from the car. But when we went to get back in the room just after 1am. The door didn't work.we tried both cards, nothing. The front desk gave us 2 new ones still nothing. She made another, still nothing. We then waited outside our room which is out side at 1 am in the cold and wet as she went to grab the master key to let us in. She came back with some keys but none of them worked because they were ”labeled wrong”. Everything we had brought with us was locked in the room. Food, water, toiletries, clothes, wallets, etc. So we couldn't leave this place if we had wanted. The front desk person said they contacted the GM but he wasn't answering because he was probably asleep. The next person on shift wouldn't be there until 645am and the maintenance guy wouldn't get there till 8 am so she was just going to have us wait until someone came in or responded. Well lucky us she was going to give us another room to wait in. The room she picked was in a dark corner of the same building. It was even more run down and had a view of a couple of parking spaces. Of course I couldn't really sleep because I wasn't even able to get completely ready for bed due to being locked out from everything I had. By 630 I was already in the lobby seeing if they had a solution. Still no. I can't go anywhere and I can't buy anything so I'm still stuck in a dingy room wearing the same thing I was wearing the day before. Finally at 7am they unlock the door to our room and call us to let us know that it's sitting open. We get to our old room with all our stuff and it was sitting ajar and unattended. We go in and start showering and packing up because checkout is 11 am giving us no time to sleep or anything. While we are packing and getting ready the call us to ask us which room we are keeping. (We are a 1 night stay and check out is in 3 hrs.) I let them know that I was leaving. They gave us free breakfast to try and make up for this. Of course it didn't because we paid to be held hostage and it ruined all our morning plans on top of not being able to sleep. After breakfast we drove home 2 hrs exhausted just to get a vacation from our staycation.
