This is a tranquil place to stay, especially the courtyard. When one is on a trip, visiting and travelling from places to places; it is wonderful to take a relaxing break in the courtyard. The hotel staffs are pleasant and very helpful. You can arrange day trips with the hotel staff. My only suggestion to the hotel management is contract with a better-quality tour company. Here comes the best part of this hotel. It has restaurant Tarumba. Chef Jorge is a gastronomic magician, no exaggeration. So good, it can't be express in words. We have been to many places in Mexico, including Mexico City many times. On this trip, we have meals in other San Christobal restaurants during our stay. The end result is there is no point to try any more other restaurants. So, we decided having our last two dinners in here. In addition, Cristina and Victoria were very attentive and patient with our broken Spanish. Nevertheless, we became friends. Opps, how can I forget to mention Antonio; always gave my wife a bit more wine! We shall be back.

We initially booked two nights at Sombra del Agua but ended up extending our stay to five nights due to the outstanding service we received. The hotel’s location is perfect, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully designed. A special shout-out to the restaurant Tarumba staff: Carlos and Andrea made every meal a delight with their attentive and friendly service. Chef Jorge, your food is nothing short of exquisite—we savored every bite! We had a special dinner on September 29th for my wife’s birthday, and Carlos made sure it was an unforgettable experience. Axel and the staft from the front desk were incredibly helpful, ensuring a smooth check-in and providing great recommendations throughout our stay. And lastly, thanks to Eugenio, the parking lot guard, for his vigilance—he saved us from a potential battery issue by letting us know we left the headlights on. Thank you, Sombra del Agua, for making our stay so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

Never visit this place it is very beautiful but the service is horrible the manager Carolina Reyes was very rude and when I tried to talk to her she humiliated and yelled at her employee the manager's service was terrible and the staff was treated badly.

This is the place I wanted to stay since I started planning my trip to San Cristobal, it has plenty of amenities, the place has a luxurious feeling at an affordable price. It’s clean very well maintained with privacy on its rooms and very attentive personnel. The restaurant is one of the top rated in town.

Excelente servicio, todo el personal muy amable, instalaciones muy limpias. Detalles decorativos sorprendentes, originales y muy regionales. La cocina de primera, alta cocina a precios muy accesibles. El café delicioso (me llevo 1 kg a casa).

Hotel in posizione strategica vicinissimo alla piazza principale. Edificio storico con bellissimo patio, stanze spaziose con mobili un po’ datati ma decorosi. Ottima colazione, il personale a volte un po’ dispersivo ma gentilissimo e disponibile. Consigliato

Everything was almost ready when I arrived, a tiny mistake on the room, but I ended up with a better room with limited noise the place was amazing, but try not to book a room facing the street as it can become noisy at night. The staff went out of their way, spoke decent English and were very helpful to show me how to get to places that I wanted to see and experience. The price for the room was very good for a solo traveller, and was within walking distance to many of the places that I wanted to explore

L’antico edificio coloniale è molto bello e molto curato. Nel primo patio d’ingresso c’è la zona ristorante e nel secondo si affacciano le stanze, il tutto con una gradevole presenza di vegetazione rigogliosa. Tutto molto pulito e personale squisito. Le stanze sono grandi e il bagno finestrato con grande doccia, l’inconveniente è che tutte le stanze hanno le finestre sul patio perciò bisogna sempre tenere le tende chiuse e di conseguenza la stanza risulta priva di luce. La colazione viene servita scegliendo da un menù che propone sia dolce che salato, molto buona ma porzioni troppo abbondanti. Molto buono e raffinato il ristorante!
