Casa Tropicana

A great location. Had some issues with another guests dogs being loose on the patio overnight, barking and clawing at our door at 5 AM. The hotel was apologetic and cleaned up the poop on the shared balcony.

Love this place and the location is amazing. If you want to have a beach vacation do yourself a favor and book here. San Clementine is a great place with lots of shopping and restaurants. If you’re wanting to go whale watching Dana Point is 10 minutes away and they have several tours a day. It’s really just a beautiful place

We stayed four nights and had a wonderful time! Such a beautiful view of the ocean and the pier from the balcony. Great location to walk out and enjoy the beautiful San Clemente Beach. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The room was clean and comfortable. We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to coming again.

I grew up in Laguna Beach, a block from the beach. I know what a beach town should be and what a beach hotel should feel like. Casa Tropicana has it all. We love it so much that it has now become our yearly family vacation spot. Great staff, hotel and location! Definitely recommend for a beachy, quaint and local stay.

Don't stay here if you what to be kept up till 3am in the morning. There is a bar directly below the hotel that plays loud music till 3am in the morning. I made a call to the hotel and they said that they would call the bar and see if they will lower the music. That didn't work! So I called the police, they said that they would send a patrol car by to see if they can get them to lower the music. They also said that if they had a permit there would be nothing they could do. There is also a railroad between the hotel and the pier that goes by aprox. ever hour through late evening, with warning bells ever time it passes and starts up at 5:30am in the morning. Also when I checked out the girl at the front desk said that she was sorry for the noise and she would talk to her manager about it. It has been 2 days and I have not heard anything from anybody. Sounds like they have plenty of business and are not worried about customers returning to their hotel or telling others to go there. Again you can do what you want, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I wanted a romantic night away from the kids. Love the location… so disappointed in the room. We booked the top floor, Casa del Rey, and as we walked up the 5 flights of stairs noticed chipping paint and rotting wood everywhere. Our private balcony had more chipped paint on everything and the furniture was terribly uncomfortable and sparse. Once the door was opened… very stale and stuffy… NO CARPET! Just a cement floor with chipped paint and a large shower with mildew. The step up to the bathroom was masked with torn blue tape, so we didn’t trip. I really think this little hotel has possibilities and it doesn’t seem like it would take too much to freshen it up… but seems like owners have given up. Pick a different spot for this beautiful location on the beach hand save yourself the money!

Do not book this hotel. I have stayed in nicer places in third world countries. The pics in the advert are not the room you get when booking. The room was old, worn out, and smelly. The TVs do not work. We killed four cockroaches. There is only one small window for the whole room with a broken blind. No windows in the bedrooms. The bathroom fan squealed so loud it hurt our ears. The parking garage is down the street from the hotel in another building. It would be helpful to know that there is no place to park when you arrive to check in except metered street parking which is non-existent. Avoid this place.
