I typically avoid Hilton properties, but chose this Hampton Inn due to its proximity to a family wedding venue. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a decision I regret. Let’s start with the misleading parking information: our original booking clearly stated parking was free, but we were charged $22 per night. Not only is that dishonest, but there’s no excuse for inaccurate booking information. The lobby displays signage that renovations are scheduled for "Spring 2025"—odd, considering it’s already summer and there’s zero sign of work being done anywhere. The hotel feels tired and in dire need of updates. The rooms themselves were adequate, but the real problem was the staff. Whether severely undertrained or simply incompetent, the service was a mess. We had nearly a dozen rooms booked for our group, and the experience across the board was frustrating. One of the most unacceptable issues: my daughter and her fiancé had to switch rooms due to a leaking A/C unit, only to be moved into a room with no working A/C—during their wedding weekend. How does a hotel make a decision like that? To make matters worse, my mother-in-law tried to purchase a root beer from the front desk snack area and was told it was alcoholic and would cost more. It’s root beer. Turns out the staff member was new, which explains the confusion—but why was she left alone to manage a busy front desk? San Clemente is a beautiful city, but this hotel is not a reflection of it. Poorly managed, poorly maintained, and clearly in need of renovation and leadership. Our weekend was too important to be ruined by something as basic as a hotel stay—and yet, this place managed to do just that.

We Stayed here for a family wedding in April . I WOULD NEVER stay there again. They knew they had two rooms without a functioning AC, both of those rooms also have windows that do NOT open. Guests who were part of our wedding party had checked in before us had our room first and complained about the issue and got new rooms. So at bare minimum hotel management knew then. after we checked in we told them that the AC was stuck on 78 and climbing, not a window to open bc they are sealed for whatever reason. We were cooking and incredibly uncomfortable. Room was like Sauna for two days day and night. No other rooms were available at the hotel nor any neighboring hotels so we were stuck . The Hotel manager was supposed to call us to at least accommodate us in some way. How about a fan? Bottles of water ? A discount ? An apology ? NOTHING …we spent two days without a promised call from management, and they didn’t bother to send a technician to our room to fix it. They should seriously have an employee run To a home Depot or similar a s buy several room fans as well as finding a technician. Absolutely unacceptable service. Not a peep. We were so hot and sweaty trying to get ready for the wedding and the nights were atrocious. Finally they offered us a 15% (!!!!!) discount after getting a hold of someone after checking out. 15%???? What is that ? What a joke they should have apologized , and comped us one night. On top of that the breakfast is horrendous as is the coffee. Truly gross prefab egg things and watered down coffee. this place is run down and gross. I highly recommend avoiding this place. Worst experience ever!
