Casa da Portela de Sampriz

This was our second stay at Casa da Portela de Sampriz and we enjoyed it like the first time here! Thanks to the history of the place, its outstanding renovation, the nice setting in the landscape, the excellent interior and exterior - and the hospitality of Leonor and Alberto, this was again one of the most remarkable stays of our trip through the North of Portugal. The rooms are delicately furnished with historic furniture and equipped at a very high standard. We felt immediately at home and enchanted, not at last in the common room among the old granite walls of the former winery's basement. In the morning, Leonor makes sure that you cannot leave without having tasted the many little treats of a Portuguese breakfast including home baked cake while enjoying the historic charm of the large breakfast room. The place is perfectly located next to the Peneda-Geres National Park and Alberto will not fail to recommend routes, sights, and restaurants. Upon return, enjoy a bottle of refreshing local Vinho Verde at the pool as well as a gorgeous sunset over the hilly country of the Lima river. As after the first time, we have a personal pledge to return ... and we are hopeful to do so :)

Superb Wonderful hotel with very friendly owners and staff. Great base for cycling. Breakfast is amazing with cake on a Sunday - and other days if you are lucky!
