After a long journey to arrive in Sambas, Hotel Pantura Jaya felt like such a wonderful haven. It is a big old building with a majestic staircase. Our family stayed in two VVIP rooms, which were enormous and very comfortable. We had a fridge for keeping things cool and a large ensuite. The shower has no screen around it so the entire bathroom does get quite wet. The bed is very firm, which is common in SE Asia, but was pretty comfortable. The room was meticulously clean and the air conditioning worked extremely well. The daily breakfast was basic but filling - fried rice, fried noodles and eggs. There is a convenience store just nearby for little extras. The staff were incredibly friendly and despite the language barrier for us, very helpful. We loved our stay at Pantura Jaya and would highly recommend to anyone staying in Sambas.
