Saltstraumen Hotel

Needs some love and a few ideas . Arrived late and had travelled for thirteen hours . We acknowledged to the reception that we did not expect the kitchen to be open but did they have anything to eat . We were offered one bag of crisps and one small pack of peanuts between seven people . As there is nothing nearby we then asked May we have a beer ? We were duly served but then asked to vacate the common areas as they had to lock up! Originally our party had booked for three nights . Suffice to say we stayed for one and paid several hundred pounds extra to relocate elsewhere . It’s clean enough but fairly basic . It could be so much more with the right attention to detail . Just the addition of a vending machine would be an improvement . No water or coffee in the rooms either . Disappointing

We made a last minute one-night booking here. It was the closest, low (ish) price option to Bodo and the Lofoten ferry, certainly when compared to the crazy prices being charged in Bodo. The room was fairly basic but clean and had a super comfy bed, good quality bedding and a couple of easy chairs as well as a desk and small table. The bathroom is compact but again clean and with a great shower and fluffy towels. Breakfast is certainly quality over quantity of choice. You also get the benefit of walking out the door to view the Maelstrom from the top of the bridge about a 15 minute walk away. There is a door into the hotel and a second to the outside so you can park directly in front of your room. Not cheap, but an option to consider near Bodo. Recommended
