Show up that night, employee was fine just not personable. Get my 1ST room, unload all my stuff, go to use the bathroom...you could clearly see "swass" on the toilet seat from the previous guest. So if the cleaner didn't clean the most important thing (toilet) then what else did they not clean? So, I go back to the office, tell the guy, he seems unimpressed by my request to switch rooms, loads a new card, and "tosses" it on the counter for me. Cool, thx? Head to the 2ND room, go straight to the bathroom, check the toilet...couldn't believe it...this one literally had a little piece of s**t stuck to the bowl clear as day & under the rim there's splatter. So, walk my butt over in the cold/snow to the office again, guy is wondering why I'm back so soon, tell him what's up and he is more annoyed now but at least laughs at one of my comments (I was being super chill about it), so I think he was partly on my side at that point. He loads another key, this time walks w/me to the 3RD room. Check bathroom first, it's fine, but the room smells really sour like a gym locker room or gym bag. I mention the smell and he offers fabreeze! I tell him I'd rather clean the toilet in the first room than breath that smell all night...to which he says "well you're here now so like I said, I'll just get you fabreeze". To which I said I'd rather just have the toilet cleaned in the first room. He hums & haws, visably more annoyed, it's freakin late and I've already wasted a ton of time, so I tell him to get me a towel & cleaner and I'll clean the toilet in the 1st room myself. We walk back to the office, I sit and wait for a few more minutes, he comes back and hands me a rag & cleaner. I guess him offering to clean it for me was a ridiculous idea cuz he never even alluded to that as an option. So essentially if you don't want a dirty room, it might be up to the guest to clean it themselves.....pretty crazy concept. Total check-in fiasco was 45 mins, and me cleaning my own toilet!! Never once apologized for any of it either. Felt a crumb or something of that nature a few times, after I'd crawled into bed, which grossed me the he** out but I was done at that point and just wanted to sleep. Unbelievable!

Showed up for check in time we were given on the website and were told that they don’t offer that. When it was time for bed we checked the sheets and blankets. All had blood on them. Went to tell the office and no one was there. Upon checkout we told them about it and we were then threatened with being charged extra to clean it since the office was unaware. We tried explaining we came to the office and no one was there. Sam proceeded to get in our face and yell. Then were told that we shouldn’t expect a clean room since we showed up early (the check in time we were given on the website). Then received nasty replies on our review on google. They then lied about all of the issues we experienced with them. They also stated that it was marker not blood despite the pictures we showed. Poor service. Do not recommend.

We normally pull a travel trailer, so our recent motel experiences are a relatively rare experience. This place was pet-friendly...a big deal for us. We were also driving a pickup truck full of stuff enroute north to our summer home in another state, so we wanted a motel where we could park adjacent to the room for security. We did not use the indoor pool or spa, but did appreciate the proximity to the downtown area, even tho most of the merchants there observe banker's hours in the off-season. A town policeman directed us to the best place for dinner and it was a brisk walk. This region is full of A+ rated campsites for RVs...maybe that's why this motel rated a C+ on our scale. Clean and basic.

We took the grandkids on this trip so we wanted something with a pool - Bear Country did not disappoint. It has a nice pool along with a hot tub that we all enjoyed. The only downside is the lobby didn't open until 8am and then they still weren't there to help us check out.
