Salisbury North Bishopdown

I stay in many premier inns due to work and I know the quality can vary however this one is in desperate need of some serious TLC. As a family we cannot book into premier plus rooms so this review relates to a standard room. Check in was bumpy as the computer wouldn't accept my booking however there were staff available to sort this albeit lacking in friendly customer service. The other 2 times we needed staff there was no one available and no response from ringing the bell. We had an email to say the pub was under going refurbishment but it's the rooms that need some urgent attention. Ours had damaged furniture, stained walls, flaking paint and a well washed but unnecessary stain visible on the duvet cover. It was noisy with other guests smoking and talking loudly between the 2 blocks. The amount of smoke also meant the reception area in the back block always had smoke in the air. We won't be back until it's had a much needed face-lift.

We booked for a long weekend and certainly chose the right hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us, the food was lovely, we had breakfast every day and it was spot on, we eat two evening meals including a Sunday lunch and again we could not fault the staff or the food. I have already been recommending this hotel to friends and family, rooms lovely and clean and full of character. The only very slight issue was our room was facing the road and over the bar, so it was a little noisy at times, but this didn't spoil what was a lovely stay.

Arrived early Sunday 27th October fully expecting to be told that my room was not ready yet. Lady behind the bar soon had everything sorted out for me and I found I was in a Shepherds hut behind the pub. Never stayed in a Shepherds hut before so this was a new experience for me. Everything I needed in a room for the two nights I was staying was in the hut . The bed was warm and comfortable. The food I ordered on both nights was nice, well cooked and hot. The breakfast was buffet style and unlimited. Would I stay again? Yes I would. I have to come back again later in the year so will be booking here again
Hillside Self Catering

Friendly welcome by owners to this wonderful little B&B and we can highly recommend it. We stayed in one of the three self contained rooms, it was compact but very comfortable. Ideal for 1, 2, or 3 nights. The beds were very comfortable and for the first time in years we slept until after 8am . The 'light' breakfast was enough to last you until your evening meal - just about anything you may want was there. Enjoyed sitting out in the peaceful garden where you could just have a coffee or even take your breakfast out to eat at one of the tables. If you don't want to cook then the Yew Tree pub (less than a minutes walk away) serves deliciuous meals. Just mind your head on the low beams!
