Our stay was amazing. The highlight being the food, every meal was amazing and felt like a taste of luxury. This was our second visit and it did not disappoint! The staff members are all so helpful and joyous and kind. There is a spa, which is a plus

We visited Blue Zebra with the sole purpose of being able to snorkel with the African Cichlids. What we got was so much more. From the moment we were collected by George at the boat transfer meeting point we were welcomed like family. Following a 30 minute boat trip we were met with Hibiscus Juice and an introduction to the resort by Georgina, the Housekeeping Manager. Our housekeeper Leesa gave us the run down on the daily services including an early evening turn down (which includes spraying your tent with ‘insect doom’). Leesa also arrived each morning with hot water to make coffee before breakfast and serviced the tent daily. The staff are the most polite you’ll encounter anywhere, from the restaurant staff to Patrick in the bar (who happily recommends the local beer). Each day you are offered a variety of the most delicious food which includes a continental and cooked breakfast, 2 course lunch and 3 course dinner. There is also afternoon tea served at 4pm each day by the pool and a wonderful seating area at the end of the pier, which is the perfect vantage point for unforgettable sunsets. Other wonderful experiences included a sunset cruise with a local drink, laundry service and the gorgeous Bianca will give you the best massage at the spa. Now for the snorkelling… you can snorkel right from the resort or take a snorkelling trip to Nakantenga Island nearby. The snorkelling did not disappoint. If you are interested in seeing African Cichlids including Blue Zebras, Red Empress, Strigatus Diddy and many others than this is the place. There are also numerous walking trails (showcasing huge Boabab trees and the friendliest little Duiker Antelope), kayaking, volleyball and swimming in the infinity pool. We had a very early departure time and Ken the resort manager went out of his way to ensure our transfer was organised and we were on time for our flight out of Malawi. He even organised a breakfast pack for us to take. This is definitely not a budget stay but a must if you’re wanting to stay at Lake Malawi.

My time at the Blue Zebra Lodge on Lake Malawi was by far the highlight of the trip. A stunning motorboat ride got me to the lodge. On arrival I was met with a welcome drink, which automatically gave it an island feel. I stayed in a gorgeous villa with a clear view of the lake. The food here was served as set 3 course lunches and dinners, and breakfasts were small, yet enough. Activities included motorboat rides around the island and it was fascinating watching the fishermen on the water. The Lodge staff were friendly, funny, well dressed at all times.

Great service and facilities. A peaceful and relaxing break. All the team were considerate of my dad who is elderly and took good care of him, especially when it came to getting him on the boat. Our cottage had an amazing view and it was enough just to sit on the patio watching the lake come alive. Lots of birds and we did a couple of walks around the island and did a sunset cruise. The staff are so friendly and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for them.

After ten years I returned to the island with my husband and it was another great stay. I booked directly and Naomi was a superstar, always ready to answer my questions and offer solutions, zikomo Naomi. Abasi is another great person, who drove us from Zomba to the island and then to Lilongwe; he is a very kind man, great driver and a pleasure to talk to! All the staff on the island were great too, from George to Maya...and apologies for all the other names I cannot remember. The tent was great, the food excellent. The sunset cruise and kayak were also great It's a pity there is no beach left as the water level has risen. My only suggestion for improvement would be larger beds. Zikomo

Absolutely unforgettable stay at Blue Zebra Lodge! My room was stunning with breathtaking views of Lake Malawi. The boat transfers to and from the island were a highlight, and the food and service were top-notch. Huge thanks to the wonderful staff, particularly Mike and Jenn, for making our stay so special. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay at Blue Zebra Lodge! From start to finish, everything was seamless—they made it incredibly easy to get to and from the island with a scenic boat ride, and took care of every detail along the way. The lodge itself is a peaceful paradise—comfortable, relaxing, and surrounded by the natural beauty of Lake Malawi. It was the perfect few days to unwind and soak in the views. If you’re looking for a relaxing escape and a unique way to experience the lake, this is it! Highly recommend!
