Salema Beach Village

Perfect stay! We recommend. We booked for 5 nights a sea view apartment. The view is beautiful and exactly like the pictures. There is a balcony and even a rooftop over the apartment to watch the sea. It was clean and the beds are very comfortable. We will stay there again if prices are competitive.

We have stayed here 3 times over the recent 6 years but were a little disappointed this time. We feel that the accommodation needs refreshing and in some areas refurbishing to retain its 4* rating. For example, the leatherette headboards in one bedroom were very cracked and worn away (beach house #42) and the rugs in both bedrooms look tired and bobbly. We also found the shower to be broken on arrival and the beds very hard and uncomfortable however this was swiftly dealt with by the very agreeable and helpful reception team who fixed the shower and provided a mattress topper. Cleanliness was good but not as immaculate as previous years. The kitchen sink needed in my opinion a good bleach to get rid of brown staining and there were previous tenant’s crumbs in the cupboards. That said, I do have high standards. Be aware the apartments are well appointed with everything you need to self cater and have a comfortable holiday but have quite thin walls and we were unlucky to be next door to a family with a snoring man and their tired and noisy two young children and had to listen to shouting and clattering repeatedly late at night which was disappointing. Again not the fault of Nau who manage the properties but unlucky for us. L’Occitans brand shampoo, conditioner and soap, toilet roll, a cloth, sponge and washing up liquid is provided. I brought nespresso pods for the kitchen coffee machine but the machine has changed and they no longer are compatible but you can buy coffee pods that fit at a very economical price from the little supermarket down the hill/road. It’s still a very nice and comfortable place to stay with lovely views and surrounding area and Salema is just unspoilt and authentic with a gorgeous beach and restaurants.

We stayed in a 2 bed apartment in 2023 and returned in 2024 staying in a 3 bed. The accommodation is superb, modern, clean with everything you could need in it. Washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, iron and ironing board. Towels for the pool and always able to get a sun lounger at the pool. Both times we went at the end of August. All the rooms have air-con, there’s a jacuzzi bath and each apartment has its own outdoor furniture including 2 sun loungers. The reception run a service to take you down to the restaurants by the beach and will collect you are the hill is steep! All the restaurants down there are fantastic and reasonably priced and its a nice, family friendly quiet resort. I would definitely go back. Loved it!

After hopping all over Lisbon and Sintra, we wanted to have some quiet and relaxing time by the beach. We went for a less crowded side of Algarve. This resort was perfect. A small town. Nice beach with nice fine sand. 
Not packed with people. Good restaurants around. We loved our villa. Very spacious with a spectacular view. 2 bedrooms. 2.5 bathrooms. Furniture is basic and pretty old. Bathrooms are clean. Despite needing an update, we love it for the private patios and viewing decks. We enjoyed the perfect view of the sunrise, sunset, and the full moon shining over the ocean. Service was excellent. Overall great stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at Salema Beach Village. The accommodation is spacious with large outdoor spaces and equipped well. The accommodation is situated at the top of a steep hill, if it gets too much the hotel provide you with transport to and from the town/beach area. There is a lovely pool area if you don’t want to venture down to the beach which is absolutely stunning. They also have a padel tennis area which wasn’t busy in April so my husband and 13 year old really enjoyed that. Salema itself is beautiful and off the tourist track. Plenty of restaurants to move between if you are there a week, The Spice Cottage, My Sushi, the pizza place, Lorensos & Boi are all worth a visit! We didn’t hire a car this time but it makes sense to if you are self catering or want to visit the local villages or Sagres. There is a small supermarket in Salema (closed on a Sunday) which stocks most things and bakes pastries fresh in the morning. The staff at NAU Salema beach village are very helpful particularly Joanna and Aqib! It’s just over an hour to get there from Faro airport…..so if you’re looking for something a bit slower and more traditional this might be the place for you.
