We had booked a last minute break at Harbour Beach Club having received an email offering preferential rates. We decided on a Corner Double room which advertised glimpses of the sea. We arrived on a Friday evening and checked in. We were very disappointed to find that to see this advertised glimpse one needed to be very tall or stand on the balcony chair (not advised)! After heading out for a walk to get the feel of the area, we returned to our room for a cuppa. While making the drinks I noticed that the room required a major dust as it obviously hadn't either been used recently or not cleaned properly. There was a wicker side table that was really bad and the dado rails were bad too. After changing for dinner we walked back to Reception and I asked to speak to a Duty Manager. The charming Receptionist on duty Nick asked if he could help so we returned to the room and I mentioned my disappointment both about the mis-described sea view and the cleanliness. He listened very carefully and apologised profusely saying the matter would be rectified while we had dinner. We enjoyed a very pleasant meal in the restaurant and had a visit from the Duty Manager who again was most apologetic and said they would move us to another room. We accepted their proposal and our luggage was moved into a really lovely sea view room a couple of doors away. We were asked to view the room to ensure we were happy and having seen that the problems of no sea view and no dust was in sight had been resolved, we were delighted with the alternative. Mistakes and errors do happen and we were initially very disappointed but our polite complaint was handled very professionally and resolved by Nick and Dan with assistance from Lee. We enjoyed a really lovely break at the hotel and enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast each morning, served again by charming well trained staff. There was a great choice including fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, overnight oats, pastries, rolls with a choice of jam, deli meats and cheese. I think that the Marketing Team need to review their wording regarding the balcony view on the first room which was stretching the facts beyond reason. Both rooms we visited were well appointed as would be expected of a 4 star hotel with huge beds, quality linens and towels, Bramley bath products. There was a fridge, coffee maker, kettle plus ample choice of hot drinks and cold milk in the fridge. Plus the bonus of complimentary gin and tonics with ice and a slice. I always think that the staff make a hotel and the ones we met without exception were all professional, friendly helpful and wanted their guests to feel welcome and comfortable. We also used the complimentary mini bus transport to visit Salcombe one evening and for us to leave the car safely in the secure car park for over a day was unusual and a real pleasure. Unfortunately the hotel advertises the Spa and I didn't realise that there was a lovely indoor heated pool until after we h
