Stagecoach Inn Formerly Shady Villa

Room is barely average. Biggest issues: no comfortable chairs in rooms! They put more effort into the bathroom lighting than they did basic room comfort. No ice buckets! No self-service ice machines! No soda machines! Ice is a hike to the front desk or pool bar. Parking is a hike, period. Fixing these expected little things would make the room … still average. For the history of this place, it must be better. You have better amenities at any good roadside hotel. Plus, the front desk dinged us $150 for “incidentals”—that is, they don’t trust their guests. Dang it. We were looking forward to this. Won’t be back.

This trip was supposed to be spent with family since it was the anniversary of my grandfather passing away. This use to be his favorite hotel, but it really has gone down hill tremendously. We had called the hotel to make sure this hotel had a crib or a pack in play for our child to sleep in, we were told that they have pack in plays available if you request one. We book through TripAdvisor and request a pack in play, we get to the hotel after driving 2 hours and we’re told that there are NO cribs or pack in plays on the premises. I told the manager that we had called and were told there were pack in plays available, and that we want our money back since they didn’t have the accommodation we needed. They told us to call TripAdvisor since we booked through them, even though the money had already been sent through and was sent to Stagecoach inn. In a matter of 5 minutes, we called TripAdvisor and were told that they would call the manager and get our money back. TripAdvisor told us that the front desk answered and said that the manager WASN’T EVEN AT HOTEL AND HAD LEFT FOR THE DAY. We were waiting at the front entrance, we didn’t see the manager leave at all!! We ended up walking in and giving the phone to the receptionist. TripAdvisor told her that they had our money and they needed to give it back, not them. If you want family friendly, this IS NOT IT!! Don’t trust what the employees say because they don’t know anything about the hotel and aren’t even educated on what they have available. Also, if you ask for any kind of refund be prepared to be questioned and have to wait 2 hours to even get a refund IF YOU'RE LUCKY!! Absolutely the most disappointing and frustrating experience I’ve had with a hotel.

Our stay at Stagecoach was amazing. The check in process was so easy and it’s convenient to all Salado has to offer. The suite we were in was comfortable and quiet. We will definitely be back.

Very limited hot water in the shower which is odd for a newly renovated room. Ice is only available at the check-in desk which is even more odd. Motels have had multiple icemakers around the property for 100 years. That definitely needs to change.

Love this hotel! Great hotel, very comfortable, love the amenities.

Hotel was really nice and at the center of the town making walking around super easy.
