We went to Mackinac Island in Michigan, a movie shooting location that went back 70 years. The hotel is outside the island. The hotel is a bit old but very clean.

The room smelled musty and smoky. The commode in their very small room was dirty. Had been “used” if you get my drift. The AC is a little window unit and definitely couldn’t keep up. The location is beautiful but I definitely don’t recommend the hotel. The desk girl who checked me in was not friendly I actually asked my husband if he wanted to just leave but our reservation is only for one night. There are several buildings and I think some of the rooms are newer. Ours was not. The lobby is nice. Our room /building needs to be torn down to the ground and redone The ratings are very misleading

Sid is the star at the St Ignace Best Western! He cheerfully shuttles guests around the resort! He is a gentleman and veteran and the hotel is lucky to have him.

Bel hôtel, très bien situé, en bord de lac et à 1km du ferry et des premiers restos. Belle piscine et excellent petit déjeuner. A recommander pour rester quelques jours sur place et profiter de la région.

Standard hotel - clean, but dated. Felt like we were in a dark cave with all the dark colors and heavy drapes. We were not aware that the room we were assigned meant that we needed to lug luggage down two flights of stairs (and up two flights when leaving) - no elevators and very strange setup. Nothing indicated this on the website or during check-in. Thank goodness we are healthy enough to schlep our luggage up/down stairs. Didn’t even try the free continental breakfast as we figured it would be a nightmare with all the guests on property - and heard it was super busy. Realize this hotel was going to be pricey due to location (near downtown St. Ignace and shuttles to Mackinac Island), but we expected more for the pricey cost - at least a modern hotel!

The front desk let us check in a little early and we were pleasantly surprised with the room they put us in. It's on the corner of the building with lots of windows, and a balcony that looks out to Lake Huron and Mackinac Island--fantastic! The room looked like it had been recently updated, though the mattresses were a bit hard and not new. All the staff we encountered were helpful and welcoming. The included breakfast buffet the next was pretty good; the coffee was mediocre, and a few more cereal/granola options would have been nice. Close proximity to the ferry and restaurants/shopping was a plus.

The hotel location is great and is within walking distance (or short shuttle) to the Macinac ferry's. We stayed in a room that faced the lake and enjoyed the sunrise each morning. Breakfast is your basic waffle maker/meat/carb offerings. There is a free golf cart to assist you to the main building if you have any mobility issues or don't want to walk up an inclined road. Our room was clean and had enough space for 2 people . While I understand that proximity to Macinac Island impacts the room rate, you won't feel like you are staying in a hotel that has room rates over $300/night. Nevertheless, the overall experience was positive.
