Absolute sh*t tip! Avoid at all costs! On first arrival we were greeted by a less than friendly woman who gave vague instructions on where the “camp site” was. As an electrical hook up we were at the top end towards the “cottages” which resemble a 1950s council estate. We’re were effectively in the back garden of one due to the hookup being an outdoor socket on the exterior wall of one of the houses. We went for a walk around the site & found a area that was full of rubbish (well come to that later) and a stream of raw sewage of which further up the track we found an open man hole cover full of sewage. The toilets/showers are not clean and have various cobwebs and crap everywhere. The drains look blocked in the toilet/showers. We were the only campers up until the last night of our 4 night stay on the campsite. I wish we didn’t even come here as it’s the worst campsite I’ve been to, I reckon sleeping under an underpass in Aleppo would be more appealing. There was very minimal signage anywhere about drinking water, we found one tap for the whole camp site and no bins or fire extinguishers on the camp site at all. In the “Laundrette” there was mould on the walls, destroyed walls with cables sat in them and a general mess. On the last night of our stay there was a large fire break out in the “sh*t tip” dump area of the campsite of which the fire brigade were in attendance. The fact we payed to stay in a field with no facilities that is a blatant health risk is quite frankly disappointing. Avoid this place unless you like the risk of your tent catching fire or bathing in raw sewage!

OK...so, I'm not one to write a review but on this occasion I must to save you wasting your time here. So firstly the reception looks like a recycling centres reception. Tatty, tired, broken blinds all scruffy and wonky. I actually at this point re checked I'd booked this place! The positives are there's no one here so very quiet (they'll be reason's for this carry on reading) it's close to the beaches and it offers two showers and two toilets and washing up area. That's fine. I camp without frills I don't expect fancy showers. The real downside is that ive been camping over 20+ years and I actually expect access on the field to bins and drinking water. It's not alot to ask for. (If you go hook up then it's actually on your pitch) but I don't. There are no bins on either of the fields Like none at all. No taps for water either. There were 4 bins outside the washing up area all huddled together which actually in my opinion should be spread around for people to have greater access to. So that's a massive thumbs down! There's also a family in a caravan staying long term who go around the campers telling them to keep dogs on leads and basically think they own the place. They were a source of amusement amongst the campers as no-one took any notice of them strolling up to campers telling them what they can and can't do! Thing is they are on top of the camping hill so you have to (if your over that side) walk or drive past they take note. They like to report people to the management also it's like being in a playground! So if that doesn't put you off maybe the response of the management may which was the place has been run like this for 9 years with no bins and water on the fields. That is a massive reason the site has no returning custom as the little things are not tended to. Why would you return when you can go to many other places up the Rd and have it all there. If the biggest seller of this site is "caml where you like pitches" then that's not a good sale lol 😆 there is a double plug socket in the washing up facility area (which is a short walk from the toilets) that campers can use. However realistically they will never be used as they are not secure. If they were boxed off and keyed campers would pay to use them but as they are they're completely pointless. As management said to me "your belongings are left at your own risk" well obviously and the risk isn't worth it is it. Little things go a long way with basic camping. This place is massively overpriced taking into consideration the "the Karen family" at the top of the hill, two toilets, no water on fields,no bins on fields and no secure charging point let alone step toes yard aka the reception. Id honestly be surprised if this place lasts another season! The other sites around here are full. All busy. At present my family are the only campers and this is the reason ladies and gentlemen. Don't waste your money go somewhere with bins and water on fields.unless they decide to start charging £1

Despite being very concerned after reading some pretty scathing reviews in between booking and arriving, we found the campsite to be very pleasant. Showers and lavatories clean with hot water on tap at all times. No complaints at all. The Fox's Revenge pub was great, also. One wonders what the motivation was for all the poor reviews submitted in the past couple of years...?

8 of us recently visited the Carvynick for 7 nights in two camper vans. Given that it was over £400 each for the pitches we were a little surprised to pull up to what appeared to be a building site cabin and to then be welcomed and given/passed information through the window of the aforementioned cabin only added to the weirdness of the situation. We had requested to be pitched next to each other but this information had not been passed on but we managed to negotiate a move through the window! The pitches we had were lovely overlooking the fields and with regular visits from the cows. The toilet and shower block were handily located and were of decent quality. That said 2 of our party at different times had members of staff bang on the door while using the bathroom facilities demanding to know what they were doing and how long they were going to be! When giving the answer they were both told that she was supposed to be cleaning them. With the fact that this site offers no other facilities it is vastly overpriced for what it is. The pitch and location saved it from being a total disaster.

We spent 4 nights at Carvynick, pitched up in the Top camping field. First impressions were good, lots of space, well kept grass and beautiful views. Reception left us a welcome pack and emailed with instructions for pitching up which was helpful. However, the toilet and shower blocks were less appealing. There was only 4 separate rooms fitted with toilet and shower facilities which seemed inadequate considering the amount of people using them, there was usually a waiting period. Also due to the weather, the floors of the facilities were covered in mud and grass which made the showering process difficult with no seating available. This could be easily fixed with a squeegee for campers to clean the floor after themselves and a simple bench to sit on and keep wash bags/clothes off the floor. Another negative was the lack of washing up stations, only two which again were in use a lot of the time. The fridge storage area was a plus, we used this to store perishables and freeze our ice blocks. There was plenty of room for campers that were using the fridges. We went to the on-site pub which was shut permanently . The smoke shack was being used instead, serving bbq food and drinks but was closed quite early for a Sunday evening. On the last day we used the laundrette facilities, the room itself looked a bit tired and outdated but the one tumble dryer that was in use did the job adequately. We had a bizarre problem with an excessive amount of spiders invading our tent lounge area (we know to expect some insect activity as seasoned campers 😂) but it seemed to be everyday 50+ spiders all over the inside of the tent, the table and chairs and on the car. Maybe we picked the wrong part of the field to pitch up at lol. All in all the location of the campsite was ideal, but the facilities didn't match the price paid considering other competitors in the area.

On arrival we were surprised at the state of the site reception as it resembled a bombed out building in Baghdad. It was hardly a reception as it has no counter and no information available and it seems that it is just an office and that meet and greets are held in the car park . There is not a shop on site . Our pitch was nice and had great views. At £45 a night this was the most we have ever paid but what was annoying is that to have an extra night a £15 charge is required on top of the pitch fee. No doubt someone will come here and say it is in terms and conditions.Actually it is just grabbing and annoying and bad business practice. The site should encourage people to stay. Anyway the tent camping field is on a huge slope with only a few camping pitches on level ground but is nicely cut . At the bottom of the field some sort of smelly liquid is oozing out of the ground and I shudder to think what the stench actually is.The laundry room is in a terrible state and needs gutting and a complete refurbished with two machines looking like they have not worked for years. There is only one washing up sink. The toilet block is best described as rustic and has only three showers. The showers were clean but there is no shelving to put anything. There is another toilet block in an odd position in a far corner of a car park but this was locked all the time. This site certainly needs some investment as they have been left way behind as to what is happening on other sites which have fantastic amenities. This very high price is too much of a premium.

Have been coming here on and off for 15 years. First came when owned by Eric and it was without doubt a stunning park dedicated to RV’s. Had nice restaurant/pub and the grounds were immaculate, also a nice In door pool and jacuzzi, has over the years moved to mainly static, no pool , still has a pub, but just the one area for caravans/RV etc and camping field. The pitches a bit tired, need weeding, trees/plants over growing, just lacked any atmosphere really and this due to hardly anyone staying over Easter break. We booked a day extra and had to pay an extra £15 for the admin to do this, felt ripped off, left day early too. Shame it’s gone down, nice views etc but won’t rush back. It looks like they are just turning it into static holidays for the future.

Stayed here for 4 nights and it's in such a great spot there's a lot of attractions around. The restaurant does amazing food. Great showers and toilets and the staff are lovely here very friendly. You could pick wherever you wanted on the field which was great and lovely views the sunsets were amazing.

My partner and I stayed at this site during our visit for boardmasters festival, we were blown away by the kindness and how helpful the staff were. Unfortunately our van broke down during our stay (7 hours away from home) and the staff really went above and beyond to help with buses, taxis, mechanic recommendations and even storing our stuff for a few days whilst our van was being fixed! The facilities are some of the best we have experienced, the campsite is spotless, the showers have hot water and are very spacious and clean! There is a fridge/freezer, charging plugs and even a mirror to dry your hair, they really have thought of every detail. There are two large fields which are very spacious! Despite staying during the festival, the campsite was very peaceful and offered plenty of room to camp with some privacy. There is a shop a short drive/walk away that also has a bus stop into Newquay. We really cannot recommend this campsite enough based on how helpful the staff are and how great the facilities were!
