Scoodic Motel

Really loved this place, the rooms are cozy and clean. The bed was so comfy we ended up sleeping 10h peacefully after our long roadtrip. The service is amazing, and easy to contact with quick response. ❤️

I traveled with a friend who booked the motel. It was an excellent choice. You might get a better price by calling them directly than you can get with most booking sites. They were friendly, helpful and all went smoothly. The desk is open limited hours so act accordingly. The room was nice and appointed with most conveniences you'd expect. But make sure the lights and outlets all work before the desk closes up for the night. I don't think they have an ice machine but there is a nearby gas station/store that usually has ice cubes at a reasonable price. There are a lot of nice restaurants within 10 miles but we didn't have a chance or time to eat at any of them. Most places open late and close early, typical of the Atlantic Provinces, especially Cape Breton Island. If you're headed that way, stock up on snacks and/or pack a few groceries.

Stopped here on our way home to Nova Scotia from US for one night after travelling 10 hours. The previous reviews mention continental breakfast but this is no longer served. The host told us upon checking in that we could get coffee or tea in the morning. Previous reviews state the motel is pet friendly but this is not so as we were asked to sign a handwritten note upon check-in that we would do no damage and had no pets. The room was clean but very small. There was 1 chair and a 12 inch TV on the wall. The water was barely a trickle coming out of the tap and there wasn't enough to shower in the morning. My husband complained when he checked out and the host said sorry. He called us about 10 minutes later to say he checked and the water was fine if we wanted to shower now. We had checked out already and were at Tim Hortons buying breakfast by then. The booking website said the motel was $77.00 when I made the reservation but we were charged $104.00 plus a $200.00 hold for damages on the credit card. This accommodation is not worth $104.00 per night! There are other options nearby so I recommend make this your LAST resort.

I always like to frequent small, family run businesses where possible and the owners have done a fine job of hosting guests with spotlessly clean and comfortable accomodations.Showing us to our room to make sure we knew how to adjust the heat and use the television was a nice touch as was the good coffee with real cream available in the office the next morning.
