The event planner could use some hospitality training, her comments over the last six weeks and during the set up of the event was less than professional. If I did not have the many years of hospitality experience I might not be as upset. I’ve never experienced such rudeness and arrogance. I’m grateful our guests did not experience this.

What a tremendous event we had at the Hotel Baker! We did a fundraiser for the St. Charles History Museum and the Salas family were so accommodating! Staff was on the top of their game from start to finish. The Hotel looked spectacular and we were excited to see the newly remodeled rooms. What a treat! Highly recommended if you are visiting or if you are just looking for a fun stay-cation!

Average to poor. My wife and I were there for the weekend. stayed in the 509 room with a hot tub. idyll for a run weekend. I was running t hat weekend. A I hat to say it raining on Saturday night to Sunday morning. I ran the 20 miler on Sunday. I anticipated soaking in a tub tub after the run. It rained all morning. Make me want to think about soaking. NOT GONING TO HAPPENING. Why. The roof leaked. Not just a little BUT The WHOLE ROOF LEAKED. I claim a lie to the statement of a useable hot tub. The Housekeeping staff was great. The Living conditions were NOT as advertised. Giving the rain conditions you should have added to the roof protection. I WANT A CREDIT. RECPOND.

Our family recently had a wedding and reception here for 150+ guests (many who stayed at the hotel). Even though way over $20,000 was spent, we were not allowed to sit and relax in the beautiful gardens advertised with a view of the river. We were escorted away like we were criminals, 70 year old criminals at that. To say that the front desk staff and manager were unhospitable would be an understatement. All areas of the hotel are cordoned off and guarded and the lobby had four seats in it. I would never recommend this hotel for anyone. Elevators were old and dirty, soiled dinner napkins on the floor of the elevator. Disgusting.

When for a wedding reception with dinner. The food and service isn’t once what it was. We were rushed through every course and the food was fair. Coffee was watered down and cold, both cafe and decaf. Sever spilled a glass of water on a guest and was casual. Someone from our table asked for more rolls and the server said rolls are limited but will check. If you are saying you’re a great restaurant why would you say bread is limited.

Great look and feel here. The hotel is almost 100 years old and is very cool. Our room was updated with new carpet and sheets and furniture. Great king bed and quaint room with old historic feel. The sound does travel as the original walls probably don’t have the construction/insulation that is required today. Room prices aren’t great but they’re not terribly overpriced. Lots to eat and drink in area. Hotel is right on the Fox River and awesome location. Staff was friendly, but we didn’t ask for much. We are seasoned professionals :) I would revisit for an anniversary or another one night getaway...

All the phone numbers say 'mailbox is full?!?!' The link to making reservations on webpage brings an error message and website from 2020. While I didn't like the hotel, the convenience of walking to The Arcandian for a concert was great.

Just okay. Here are the basics: king bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and dark for sleeping. Bathroom was tiny, with just the bare minimums. Shower was wimpy. We were in a spa room on the 5th floor. There was a nice jacuzzi on the balcony, but the “city view” was the roof top of the building next door and the (very loud) traffic below. Not peaceful, not quiet. Pretty disappointing for the amount we paid. Maybe the river view spa room balconies are quieter; we were told there were none available. When we checked in (on a Monday), there was a sign at reception that said breakfast hours were until 10:30. We came down the next morning at 9:30 and found out breakfast would end then. They let us stay to eat, but it was cold eggs, no fruit, cereals. Bacon was good. :) All in all, while the room was quiet and bed comfortable, our experience was disappointing. I rely on TripAdvisor so much for our travels, so I thought I should write an honest, just-the-facts review here. We would not stay here again.

We did not even get a chance to stay at this hotel. You know a hotel is cursed when the experience is bad BEFORE you arrive!!! We booked a reservation online and got a email confirm with a confirmation number on March 24th at 2:56 PM. We were attending a wedding on July 30th this year. By chance....and I mean by chance, I happened to call the Hotel Baker on July 5th to inquire about making a change to my reservation. Guess what? Sorry we have no record of your reservation. I told the front desk contact (Victoria) that I have a confirm number and email confirmation. She proceeded to tell me about some reservation system snafu and sorry but we do not have any rooms! Really? That is your response to my situation. Victoria promised to talk the manager (Angie) and call me back. Surprise! No return call. I call hotel back after 4 hours of waiting. No Angie. Gone for day. Maggie takes my number and says someone will call be back. No follow-up so I am forced to call again. I asked to talk to the General Manager and co-owner who is Rowena Felix Salas (the other owner is Joe Salas). The person in the sales department was reluctant to provide the contact information for the General Manager and co-owner initially. In any case, I sent an email to the General Manager and co-owner. I asked that she call me. No reply. Imagine if I had not called and we showed up on our check in date with luggage in hand to attend the wedding event. We travel a lot for business and leisure and this is by far the worst experience before arriving to a hotel property in our travel history! The entire hotel staff and owners ghosted us!!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel in St. Charles. Do I really have to provide them w/ one star? How about zero!
