The location is perfect, situated just opposite of the St. Albans Cathedral Abbey. Their service was great too, the receptionist was kind and friendly. As for the cleanliness... the room is very clean. However, the room is very old. Creaking floors and walls. Uneven floors. Their isnt mold visually but there are moldy smells. There are cobwebs but only if you see closely. Their bed are extremely soft, like sleeping on marshmallows. Their TV have no channels at all, so nothing to watch. They do provide free wi-fi. As for amenities, all in provided including body wash, shampoo and bar soap. In the room, they have iron board, iron and hair dryer. Those who wanting for a drink, situated at their reception is a bar itself.

We went here for my cousin’s hen do and were refused entry. Now don’t get me wrong I have been far too drunk to be allowed into a bar before but this was simply not one of those times. We’d been on a FAMILY hen do with mums and aunties. So had only had a few drinks. We’d queued up with everyone else and no one in our group was staggering or swaying. Then when we got to the front we were refused entry purely because my cousin had a veil on. Now I’m not against refusing entry to people who are too drunk but we were refused entry purely because we were celebrating my cousin getting married which seems unreasonable. We went to the Horn instead which was fab. Don’t go here unless you want unfair refusal.

Friendly staff but avoid the beer if you like an Ale. There are no ground floor rooms and the stairs are steep, but there's someone to help you if required. Warm rooms.

possible. Had the worst experience here and was traumatised at the way the manager spoke to myself and my friend. My car had smoke coming from bonnet so had no choice to pull in to white hart hotel carpark. It does clearly say £12 per day. I explained to the manager as im disabled the rac would be here within an hour and we were going to eat there i asked if there was a childrens menu as i have cancer and cannot eat large portions he first said there was no childs menu i said if i stayed at your hotel with children you don’t have a menu.. he then says whilst talking over me that there is a childs menu but refused to let me look at it as im not a child.. I eat out 2/3 times a week and have never experienced such rudeness. Because of his attitude we decided not to stay he then proceeded to literally chase us up the car park shouting! DEMANDING that i pay £12 RIGHT NOW. I went straight to my car and parked outside on main road.. This man has no place in hospitality let alone management..when i complained he sent me an email pretending it was a member of staff when it was actually him who traumatised myself and my friend and asked not to contact him again!!!!! I And had the audacity to say i wanted free parking!! I have a blue badge i can park anywhere i have contacted several newspapers hoping to take this further

Was searching for a friendly pub as Hubby and I was booked to go and see a George Michael Tribute ( which by the way was good!) And after walking to a few pubs in St Albans and not even getting served we walked into the Whitehart and your immediately transported back to Henry 8th vibes and his 6 wives. There is a coat of armour in the corner which we found facinating. Was greeted by a lovely young chap behind the bar, and we ordered wine and a beer. Prices very reasonable we could of stayed longer but had to dash, you can be sure we will be back again very soon!

Very old hotel with all the quirky things that go with that like sloping floors and low doors.

We had a Groupon voucher for this restaurant at White Hart so went last week one evening. Our voucher pictured a steak, beautifully sliced into pieces and with french fries. We received a piece of meat, thick chunky chips and some lettuce. For this, the restaurant charges £26.95 per person!! It isn't the Ritz. For peppercorn sauce if required they have the affrontary to charge an extra £3 per person. We were at Sopwell House at the weekend at their Brasserie, they do a superb 3 course meal plus a glass of wine for just £2 more than these White Hart people charge for their one main steak course. Also, at Sopwell House, peppercorn sauce, no problem, no extra charge. The drinks at White Hart are ridiculous prices, look at their menu. Why on earth should anyone have a meal there when there are so many places in St. Albans far better and far, far better value? Although we had a voucher, paid for in advance of course, they added service charge on top based on their mad menu prices not the voucher price paid and were not happy that I felt I had to challenge it. I am not surprised there was only one other table occupied that evening in the restaurant.

It was like being in a 1970s hotel. Smelled of smoke. Noisy. Appalling bathroom. Old bed that creaked. It shouldn’t be on ******* list.
