The room is large and comfortable, in good condition, new and clean in every aspect. The key is that it is very close to the train station. Our Amtrak arrived at around 10pm late in the evening, and we arrived at the hotel in a few minutes. It should be the best hotel in St. Albans. In particular, I want to mention the front desk, who seems to be named David or Mu, who can speak Chinese. The service attitude and quality are very good, and he helped us solve the problem of accessing the Internet.

Nice hotel conveniently located downtown, easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. My main gripe is the poor housekeeping. I was there 6 days and requested daily service when I checked in. Some days the bed was made other days it was not. One day they would take all the used soap and not leave new soap. (I would have been ok using the old soap, but they took it). Some days they would empty the trash cans other days they would empty one and not touch the other. The carpet was never vacuumed the entire time I was there. (I left some small chips on the floor and they remained there the last 4 days of my stay). When I mentioned these items to the front desk, in person or by phone, they copped an attitude. Called the front desk to complain one afternoon that the room had not been serviced and they sent in 2 men who said they worked in maintenance and it was not their job to clean rooms. Asked the desk clerk if they had a laundry, they snapped back, "no". They could have told me that there was one 2 blocks down the road. Dealt with different desk clerks, and all seemed to have an attitude. When checking in, they failed to give me my welcome gifts even though I am a Hilton Honors Member. Went down to breakfast each morning, which was pretty good, but there was a constant flow of what appeared to be homeless people coming in and out the front door taking all the breakfast items they wanted. Most went in and out multiple times. The desk clerk was there and observed this, but said nothing. These were not clean people, touching all of the utensils and cooking equipment. I actually work with an organization that regularly feeds the homeless, so I understand their plight. But this is not what I was paying for at this property. A piece if trim had fallen off the wall prior to our arrival. (4th floor) It stayed there on the floor during my entire visit.

I reviewed this property after my last stay in summer 2022. I rated it excellent then. I would drop it down to Very Good this time. Not perfect, as with a fine wine it begins to show its age. Don't get me wrong... the lobby and hallways are bright and look immaculate. The elevators are modern and quick. The front desk people are very friendly and professional. And I arrived there armed with experience knowing that this is the only property I've ever encountered where you cannot rely on your Digital Key because while it will still open the door, it doesn't allow you to have any electric power. So this time I stopped first at the front desk and was told my memory was correct :) . But I did observe something black near the floor of the shower. The room was otherwise very comfortable and provided me with good sleep. Having arrived and departing by train, I was fully aware of potential train horn noises and they did not bother me. Ample space in the room and bathroom for belongings. My other negative was that I wasn't as impressed with the breakfast choices as last time, when I got scrambled eggs and sausage. This time the only hot item that suited my fancy was a cheese omelet. To its advantage, the crews from the train also stay there. When you're the only game in town, you're also the best.

The hotel is nice. Beds were comfy, shower good. It could use a refresh, as others have stated. But it was clean. Pool was warm. It's a small pool but good enough for a stretch. They had a good sized work out room. Breakfast is the typical Hampton breakfast. Nothing to write home about but you could get enough decent food to keep you going. The hotel is literally a couple blocks from the Amtrak stop. Very convenient when arriving late by train. Staff are very friendly.

We have family members in a nearby town and returned to the hotel after having stayed at the Hampton Inn St. Albans previously. The staff is friendly and proficient. The room was spotlessly clean, the king bed comfortable, and the fifth-floor room pleasantly quiet.

Stayed here for a night with my family and couldn’t be more happier. Hotel is modern, clean, excellent staff and great location. Parking garage is adjacent to hotel and easy to access. Your parking will be validated. Breakfast had plenty of options - very good. But the pool - WARMEST water ever. Absolutely phenomenal. Thank you Hampton inn for a great stay!

Quaint hotel in charming downtown St. Albans. Arrived around 7PM and was promptly greeted and checked in. One minor hiccup, the keycard machine wasn’t working. But the front desk staff were prompt in finding us a resolution to get us into the room. Room was clean and fairly modern. Starting to show a bit of wear, but it is a 5 year old property at this point. AC was heavenly during a Vermont heatwave. Had a good and quiet sleep! Wi-Fi was free and although a bit challenging to connect to, it was quite fast. I found cell reception to be very spotty in St. Albans. Parking is behind the hotel in the municipal lot. It costs $3 for hotel guests. Be sure to bring your ticket into the front desk so they can get you the discounted rate. Also, there is free EV charging in the lot. Great stay. Thank you.

Very disappointed with this Hampton Inn. I had just stayed at a Hampton Inn the week before in Media, PA which was lovely and was less expensive than the one in St. Albans, VT (if anything, the latter should have offered lower rates given the location is so much less desirable and popular). The parking at the St. Albans location was entirely unclear and there was no sign indicating instructions to park in the public lot behind the hotel. Doing so, required a relatively long walk with luggage and multiple trips. In short, this was a major hassle. Also, the parking garage was covered in pigeon poop which was just gross. The snacks for sale next to the front desk did not offer frozen entrees as the one in Media did which meant without venturing out (which I did not want to do on a rainy night), there was no dinner option available for me. In addition, there were the sounds of trains intermittently heard very prominently outside of my hotel window. The wifi cut out during my business call. And there was a clump of hair on the bathroom floor from the previous guest. I would strongly not recommend this Hampton Inn. In addition, it was not immediately off of the highway but required a drive into downtown to reach. For a rate of $250, this experience was totally unacceptable.

Average place to stay. The hotel is about 6 years old, but seems more run down than I would think for the age. The room had wear and stains. Bathroom not well cleaned. ***** hairs from previous customers in bathroom when we arrived. The mattress wasn't comfortable. Trains pass close by all times in the middle of the night and early in the morning. Train whistles woke me up multiple times every morning. Other reviewers commented on friendly staff, but we didn't experience that. The staff we dealt with were really disinterested.
