The inn is a large old mansion with many rooms to choose from. There was an excellent selection of items for breakfast. The staff were very nice, helping us find a good restaurant for supper. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable and reasonable.

The Bed and Breakfast was a treat to visit. Architecturally the home was well preserved- the grounds were beautiful with colorful flowers on the back terrace and tall old walnut and oak trees presiding on the extensive grounds. The staff was welcoming and accommodating.

The Montague Inn B&B is a historian's delight. It's full of architectural detail and a history that is being honored by the current owners. Saginaw is a proud community that is working hard to recapture its stature among the northern Michigan communities. The house manager is Melissa who knows the storied history of this house since she was a young girl.

CANADIANS BEWARE! Went twice to The Montague Inn to support our London Knights in the Memorial Cup Games. The employee at the front desk was talking about the game in the breakfast room. Naomi, the employee continued to emphasize her dislike for The London Knights AND CANADIANS. I let her know I was in fact Canadian. No apology as she continued to reinforce her position. I was told she is the owner when I called to verify. Disappointed….will spend our hard earned dollars elsewhere. So sad to see this American neighbour treating us like this. Neither sportsmanlike or good neighbours.

This place is an experience! There are fun nooks and crannies everywhere and a friendly eccentric staff. I had read on google it was ******* and it has that feel that a ghost could be behind the next corner. There are a couple of secret doors and although they didn't have a bar, one of the staff dug up a bottle of wine for us upon request. For something different and for the price, it's definitely worth a try and I would go back.

My husband and I were driving cross country and we were just looking for a place to stop for the night. Usually, we would stay at two-star motels, so when I saw this on *********** for $80, including breakfast (on a Tuesday night) I thought this was too good to be true, but what do I have to lose? It turns out that the place is absolutely amazing! This is a lovingly maintained, 1920's mansion with period furnishings and many original fixtures, floors, and tile work. The staff was wonderful. We were traveling with some perishables and I had been concerned that there would be no refrigerator, but we were allowed to use the kitchen facilities for storing our food. Our room (with a comfortable king-size bed) was lovely. I felt that I was on a special vacation, not just a stop for the night. In the morning, much to our delight, there was even a hot breakfast with fresh eggs and fresh pancakes. It turns out that if four rooms are booked then a hot breakfast will be provided. The grounds around the house are also stunning. This property is clearly an events venue that is now being used for lodging when there are no events taking place. If reviews from past years are not stellar, that is not the case at this time. The owner is doing a wonderful job. If you are looking for a place that is modern, minimally furnished and everything is new and perfect, then this is not for you, otherwise the bargain of the century!😀

Spend a lot of time here on TripAdvisor and saw this Montague Inn a year or two ago and thought it sounded very interesting. The wife and I stayed in a historic b and b in LaPorte In a couple years ago for our 40th and was over twice the price. Typically weekends are more anywhere and same was true here. Only $83 out the door on a Thursday in October was a bargain for a king bed with the historic character of the Inn. Yea it’s a little eerie checking in at dusk but the gal was very nice, walked us up to the Mary Sage room at top of stairs and then said as long as door open check out rooms. Montague’s room across hall and was probably 3 times the size and $140 plus tax which is very reasonable in today’s greedy economic inflationary times. Not going to blame here. Ok Some Cons 1. No air conditioning in our Mary room( removed from window?) 2. Wife was worried about fire hazard and if mansion is “ grandfathered in”. One of her workmates’ daughter and boyfriend passed in a fire on Mackinac island ( I believe it was Mission Point and had windows barred , remember reading about it about 30 yrs back) 3. Wife whacked her foot on couch with legs protruding and furniture is not “Amish built” for todays large folks. 4. Room door big gap, well it’s a 100 yrs old. Btw the drapes do close to try to cut down back patio string lights Pros 1.new Lasko fan in closet to drown out noise and air movement . 2. Nice firm poster King bed and wooden frame squeak 3 nice hot breakfast w real scrambled eggs As there were at least 4 patrons 4. Lady gave us tour and showed Hidden closet in library cool. So many other cool things could go on and on 5. Morning male staff friendly also It was a great experience and we will be back to try Mr Montagues room!

We booked this hotel because we love independent, unique properties. The grounds were beautiful. The hotel was very interesting, but definitely showing a lot of wear, it is not being maintained. The included breakfast was very good. The things that were advertised in the ******* listing that are not there are: (1) Restaurant - the front desk clerk said the chef quit over 2 years ago, so they closed the restaurant, (2) Elevators - our room was on the 3rd floor and apparently the elevators only go to the 2nd floor, but that is not mentioned in description, (3) Fireplaces - the front desk clerk said they are not working, that it will cost $6000 to fix and the owner doesn't want to pay for it, (4) Shower/Tub combo - the description for our room said it had a combo, but there was only a shower. And our room was very dirty...as soon as we walked in, we noticed a toothpick in the middle of the carpet and a large piece of plastic laying on one of the chairs..but the worst was the filth under the bed, (which we checked to make sure no stray socks had fallen), there was a huge layer of dust, pieces of dried food and other pieces of misc items....it clearly had not been vacuumed under there in months....which made me worry about the Covid-19 practices that should have been in place as well. But the number one worst thing about the room was that the mattress was shot...it had no support whatsoever....my husband and I rolled to the middle when we got into bed...I awoke in the morning sore from my neck to my hips. I did mention this to the front desk clerk on the way out and that the mattress needs to be replaced and her reply was..."oh that's too bad".
