The room was ok, but the kitchen vent was just below the window and was noisy.
I wouldnt recommend this room to anyone and as the Ship Inn is not cheap I wasnt expecting this issue

Walked in for an afternoon drink with my family and what looks like the perfect location didn’t follow through on hospitality. Service was awful with a level of rudeness Ive not seen in years! Having working in this industry for years and if I’d have been that rude that would of been the last! We are now looking for a different place to eat!

Popped in for a quick drink on way somewhere else locally. Very welcoming, great atmosphere, enjoyed very much. Sun was shining door open lovely breeze. Only 7 minutes walk from Rye station. Easy to find . Did not eat but food looked amazing.

We booked the ‘suite’ so my friend and I had a double bed each. The sofa bed wasn’t made up and a very lovely housekeeper came to do it just as she was leaving. She was the only highlight of a dreadful stay. The pillows for the sofa bed were anwful and the bed itself was not fit for purpose. When we came back from dinner for a nightcap just passed 10pm the pub was closed. We settled for a coffee in a very hot room. The windows don’t open and if you have the strength of Geoff Capes you may get them to open an inch, they have a wire stopping them opening any further. Watch out for the flies stuck between them. Sleep was hard to come by. The sofa bed was awful and in one room we could hear the gentleman above us urinating and breaking wind. The other had a constant snorer and another sounded like they were coming through the ceiling. I understand the building is old but you can surely put some soundproofing in and some fans. The next morning carried on as the day before had started, complete nothingness. We only had one teabag in the room so we had a toss up who had it. We decided to shower, pack and go down for breakfast. It was after 8am on a Friday and the pub door was again locked. Nobody setting up for breakfast and no sign of anyone. We paid £170 for one night for what turned out to be a major disappointment. I did contact them directly to ask for a partial refund as I didn’t think the room warranted the cost but they ignored my email. Great customer service, not.

Room small but comfortable, would not suit tall person due to low beams. Coffee and tea selection best I have seen in a long time. We had cosy room at top of hotel in the eaves and was very hot and stuffy, window would only open about 6 inches, fan helped but noisy. For such a small room the bed was enormous much bigger than a Kingsize, pillows too small and very soft but bed comfortable. Bathroom very small with over bath shower with small basin and very difficult to clean teeth without making a mess. Room was refreshed every day which was lovely, housekeeping couldn’t have been more accommodating. First night for convenience we used restaurant, I was very disappointed with my choice Lasagna a very small amount which was dry and barely warm, I left half of meal and when collected by staff was not asked if I had enjoyed meal. I ordered wine and was served with a different wine as I had ordered a large glass and it didn’t come in that size? We booked on room only basis and at no point did anyone ask us if we wanted breakfast, they didn’t sell themselves at all, so we went to local cafe which was very reasonably priced with good food and great service, at least 3 other options to have breakfast within 100 yards. Pros: Very good position in Rye Room extras brilliant Housekeeping top notch Cons: Restaurant staff could have better customer service. Room uncomfortably hot. 2 flights of stairs.

My local and we use it regularly with family. Fish pie last night had no white fish, slivers of salmon and lots of mash. Did take it up with the manager. Didn’t seem very concerned; mumbled something about weighing ingredients? Such a shame as good on all other occasions!
