Het was al een tijd geleden dat we in dit hotel geweest waren.
We hadden altijd zeer goede ervaringen in dit hotel.
Deze keer zijn we behoorlijk geschrokken van de slechte staat van onderhoud waarin het hotel verkeerd.
Op de kamer bleek de lamp op het nachtkastje en de radio niet te werken omdat er geen stroom op het stopcontact bleek te staan.
De gordijnen waren vuil en hingen gedeeltelijk los.
Het toilet spoelde zeer moeizaam door en de afvoer van het bad bleek verstopt te zitten.
Kortom wij zullen hier niet meer terugkomen.

Absolutely loved our stay. Great location in the centre of Rue town centre. Felt so lucky with our room. Breakfast was also lovely. We would definitely recommend and come back again. Yes, it did look tired in a few places but we were expecting this from the reviews we had read. It didn’t affect our stay in the slightest.

Pretty hotel in a great location. The hotel is a few minutes and just a short walk from restaurants and pubs on the High Street. Rye is quite a compact town. Our room overlooked the car park at the back of the hotel. Not the best view but the room (deluxe double) was spacious. Breakfast was cooked to order and they were able to accommodate a coeliac diet (gluten free options). I would however recommend they keep a separate toaster at the back for gluten free bread only. They were able to provide gf bread for me but couldn’t toast it.

We stayed 1 night in room no 21. Deluxe room. Huge balcony with great views but as someone else said could do with some plants to fill the huge space. The bed was very comfy although the mattress is 6 inches smaller than the base. The room has all the potential to be absolutely amazing but the carpet is horrendously stained and the paint in the bathroom is peeling. Breakfast is good, self service tea/coffee, continental bits and toast. Can order from the hot menu. The ground floor is decorated well but as soon as you hit the stairs to go to the rooms the carpet really is thread bare and the walls all chipped and dirty so unloved. Needs a good refresh. Parking was easy £8 via ring go. Fantastic location for Rye and exploring. We had dinner at the sister hotel The George and that was great you get 10% discount off the bill when you show them you are staying at the Lookout.

Had a one night stay in Room 21 with a large roof top veranda with great views but quite sparse, felt like it needed a large plant or some greenery. Bed was comfortable with great sheets, nice bathroom and robe and this is a great location…but…Roman blinds had plastic rods sticking out the sides, I pushed them all back into place, big stains on the carpet, bathroom window couldn’t be open/shut properly and paint was peeling in large areas and blind didn’t work properly, extractor fan was turned off, maybe by a guest but housekeeping should check this every turn around. Hall/stairways had grubby old wood-chip wallpaper, threadbare carpets, filthy doors round the handle area. Staff were really nice but seemed young and inexperienced ordered smashed avocado at breakfast which was just supermarket guacamole smeared on cheap bread, none of the food from the buffet was protected and flies were evident! Tables were wiped with spent serviettes. No evidence of management and the place just feels neglected, tired and unloved. It would also be helpful if the pre arrival email contained the actual directions to the car park.

Such a disappointment, booked the night in a king room for my boyfriends birthday. On arrival although has great character, sadly the hotel is very tired and run down, in dire need of an upgrade, and cleanliness in also need of an upgrade. Dust everywhere, stains on cushions, seating, carpets and woodwork ,Mirrors Such a shame as stated a beautiful building but in desperate need of a upgrade and some tlc will not return
