Note: Our reservations were for April 2024 but we weren't able to go however we have stayed there in the past. We purchased a package and had visited in the past with family members who were also past customers. I became ill with a contagious infection the day before our family trip with family and was advised by my doctor to quarantine. I called Getaway House to let them know of my unfortunate situation and to ask (we were returning customers as was my daughter and her family) if I could reschedule our reservations. Keep in mind that I was aware of their 72 hour cancellation policy but was asking for a mercy waiver, as this was an unplanned circumstance and we were past customers so my request was from a customer relations perspective. Fast forward, after months of pleading my case at every level of the Getaway House administration ladder (I never asked for a refund, just asked to be able to reschedule) and filing a request for assistance from the Better Business Bureau, they refused to throw me a crumb and kept robotically repeating their 72 -hour cancellation policy. If, God forbid, some unforeseen situation occurs within 72 hours of your reservation, know that they are iron clad, unwavering and WILL NOT care about your misfortune as I've since discovered from personal experience and from other people's reviews. Bottomline is that they chose to keep over $900 of the money I paid and dump us, my daughter and the friends she'd referred Getaway House to, as customers. My takeaway is that they must need my money more than I do. Happy ending: We just got back from the family trip we rescheduled. We stayed at Huttopia Paradise Springs and had an amazing time at this amazing place which offers so many amenities, a pool, cafe, entertainment, kid's play structure, outdoor games, an indoor game room to mention a few. Getaway House has no amenities. Thank you Getaway House for rejecting us. By doing so, we discovered a MUCH better glamping experience! Read less

I have been to the Getaway cabins two times and have enjoyed them dearly. However, this time. from the booking and all the way to the stay, I had a less than OK experience. Below are the reasons why: *Booking- I accidentally booked with full price for 3 nights from 12/17-12/20 while there is a promotion of 25% off Fall Savings going on. I contacted their customer service via email multiple times on the same day, asking if they could refund and let me rebook using the discount code. The responses are textbooks and never solved my problem. And when I kept checking in on the process. They simply never replied. It is a mistake I made that they could have easily helped, but they chose not to. The customer service is not there, and I was disappointed. * Contact methods- Per last point, you will never have someone to truly speak to when you run into problems. Either email or text message. And I think they share the same phone line, so sometimes when I ask for a question, their answers are not coherent. *The stay and safety issue- #1 Information accuracy: We got there according to the route direction that 330 is closed. However, later on we found out it was not. We confirmed there's no burn ban in the area. However, when we spoke to the locals at the grocery store, they confirmed they claimed otherwise. # Lack of service: We asked for a lighter as both lighters from the cabin were out of gas; the text customer service said it would be delivered, but it never happened. # Safety- I had a slip and fall incident on the property right at the grill bench. We stayed in Renae cabin. The grill bench is at the edge of a slope with gravals. The distance from the bench to the slope is less than 1 foot. Due to the lighting and the dangerous set-up, I slipped and broke my knee. I told them right away, and the response is nothing but robotic and disgeniune. No follow-ups, check-ins, or next steps on how to improve the setup to be less dangerous. It's the service. Also I'm posting the same exact comment on TripAdvisor because I don't trust their official website on how to handle the review.

Camp hinckley is next door, they are using a microphone and kids are screaming and it’s 7pm -8:30pm just screaming and kids yelling. Stop, I came to a camp site for the quietness, NOT HERE , very disappointed, call the camp and the sister said it goes on almost every night in the summer , RESPECT TOUR NEIGHBORS !!! Be quieter , NOISE travels !

The ambiance was quiet and lovely and the cabin was exactly as described. We had no problems checking in or out. However, our experience had a few hiccups. First, we were billed for items that were listed as "included with your stay" after the fact. The bed was stiff for my wife and I and we both woke up with sore necks each day. Finally, the shower could only sustain hot water for about 6 minutes. While we had a good time overall, I didn't appreciate being misled on the amenities and could do with softer beds and less stingy showers. I'd recommend this experience to people seeking a relaxing escape who don't need much for creature comforts, with the caveat to be mindful of what you utilize while you're there.

Me with my wife wanted to relax with a stunning view. I booked my Mountain View cabin in advance. It was 3 hours driving and I get this view. Please see attached pictures from the website and actual view from the cabin I got. All Mountain View cabins were occupied so they tried to give me that "mountain" view. I asked for refund. The guy said they will do it and also they will give me $45. I rented another airbnb with Mountain View and it really was Mountain View. As advertised. It’s amazing when you get what you ordered. Unfortunately getaway couldn’t provide what was is presented on their website. It’s been a month I’m trying to get my money back. Is it something wrong with me? When I order salmon sushi, I expect to get salmon sushi, not shrimp sushi or something else. So when I ordered Mountain View I expected to get Mountain View, not Forest views. Getaway couldn’t provide. They have very polite support. But it is not helpful. I have no idea why they can’t return my money and forget about it. I didn’t use their cabins. Instead of doing honest business they need to take my time and energy instead. Please return my $447.80 Thank you Update: They refused to refund. I’ll have to go to customer protection or court.

I booked 2 weeks ahead of time for this cabin, it's cute and very tiny and the area around was nice very tight road. I got a message on my way the day of to the cabin and it said there was no power and they didn't have an update when there would be power so to check Edison. I check Edison , they were with out power already a week at least before I even showed up. I had no where to go it was freezing up there in the mountains to sleep with no heat or to not even have light it's pitch black out there! I had to book another place down the mountain, I wish I was notified earlier than what I was to give me a better chance at planning this was a special trip for my partner and I and it was completely ruined , we didn't even get to experience big bear because of the constant driving back and forth from the new place we booked down the mountain! So disappointed in whoever looks over this property, I hope if this was to happen again the next people booking don't go through what we did and get a heads up!
