Runaway Bay Motor Inn

We stayed here last year and it was wonderful, I put up a great review at the time. This year, however I feel it's gone downhill. Our initial room the AC/heating wasn't working at all. The manager did change our room when he realised I was telling the truth and he couldn't get it working. The door on the shower cubicle was hard to open & close and was almost coming off the track. I feel the management and overall running of the motel has gone off.

A claim read on a booking app suggesting that Runaway Bay Motor Inn is a 4-star has surely been self-rated. The property is long past being new and crisp, and for this region, reasonable accommodation is what we expect. Perhpas it is offseason, but surely any property needs to be at best or under continual renovation - Motor Inns wear - and Runway Bay Motor Inn is surprisingly unloved. There was no milk in the fridge, and two token towels were, at best, well-washed but not replaced for our second night. You work all day; you want a decent towel for the shower. Hot water pressure was ok, but then the property was very lightly booked. The room was bland, the garden outside unkempt, and while the weather did not allow relaxing by the pool, being off season, the place needs to be tidied up. Grub in the bathroom - and dodgy grout... The design is unusual, with no modernism, and even a token USB port—cheap at Bunnings and would help guests. The microwave's placement is strange. The light reflects onto the bedroom mirror, and the glow keeps you awake. Half asleep, you have to get out of bed to find which plug to switch off or pull out. Not a good thing. The electric plugs are all a bit weird.

There was a double sided a4 list of rules for the property. Felt on edge in case I broke one.
