Nachelle Homestay

Very happy to recommend This is a lovely homestay in Berastagi, about a 20 min walk along the main road to reach the town centre with the 'cabbage monument'. Nachelle makes incredible homemade pizzas from scratch - a must (if you like pizza)! There's also a water cooler for you to use and fill up your bottle. It's a bit of a hike if you're staying on the top floor, but they help you with your luggage. Nachelle also gives you a very helpful local map, and can help arrange your ongoing transport (e.g. for me it was a tourist taxi from Berastagi to Lake Toba).

Nachelle homestay is situated in the heart of Berastagi, tucked away from the main hustle and bustle. It location affords easy access to restaurants, markets, etc, and yet its rooftop terrace provides panoramic views around the city, with no less than 5 volcanoes to see. The owners , Abdy and Mery are both passionate about their guests being made welcome and helpful in all ways. The accommodation we had was spacious and adequate in its furnishings, fine for a few days stay, although water pressure was low during our stay. I assume you are interested in Berastagi for the opportunity to climb Sibayak volcano and view Sinabung volcano? Well, you won’t find a better guide than Abdy. He is a local multilingual,intelligent, and super fit man who knows the area intimately, and has endless knowledge regarding his precious volcanoes. He also has an engaging banter to take your mind off the climb. In all, I forgive the low water pressure for the opportunity to enjoy Abdy’s skills as a tour guide.
