First, I would like to commend employee, Liyah who was working the front desk. She changed our room for us and was very pleasant and went out of her way to help us. They rest of our stay was a nightmare. We walked into the first assigned room, and it smelled so strongly of an unpleasant substance that we could not stay in it. It was on the more expensive side with a yard area. We asked for another room. Liyah moved us to the parking lot side. The room did not smell and would have been fine, but when my husband walked across the carpeted room, water went everywhere. All of the carpet was soaking wet. Liyah said that there was no mention that the carpet had been cleaned and was still wet. I asked to upgrade to a suite, but I was told that they were not cleaning the suites. Another office person moved us again to an upstairs room on the grassy, please side. We hauled all of our luggage up stairs and moved for the third time. The room above us needs the floor replaced. The people in it were up until 3:00 A.M., and when they moved a joist squeaked loudly. Then, if they took a step, it sounded like elephants in that room, not to mention that this third room smelled awful also. The whole stay of three nights was completely miserable for a variety of reasons. This hotel is run down and in need of a complete renovation. It is also being run by a "management company" that does not care. We have stayed here when we go to Ruidoso for many years, but our recent visit was the last. We would have moved to a decent hotel, but they charged up front, and would not refund our money. Our trip was ruined because of this hotel.
