So.......this is my 100th review on TripAdvisor since joining in 2015, so I would like to think I am aware of what a nice/ good hotel stay is after all this time, and what is a complete disaster., and believe me, my following review is sadly a COMPLETE DISASTER! My wife and I have been privileged enough to have travelled the world and stayed in several fantastic hotels, and the UK has some beautiful hotels, amongst the global hotel offerings. For our hundredth review, this is sadly possibly our worst hotel stay! Let me start this horrendous story by introducing you to the worst reception member of staff I have EVER met - Julia. Without being too cruel, I would refer to her as the Middle Aged Nightmare! Someone who has very little manners or class. There was no "welcome, thank you, hope you have a lovely stay" set of comments, nor did she explain the breakfast times, and that the heating in the room is activated by the reception and cannot be activated in the actual bedroom, which is so strange. She was miserable, unwelcoming, rude and should not be the face of ANY hotel! I actually thought it was a joke 😃, but surprisingly, it was not! Why does this establishment employ her? The fact that we and two other guests were the only people here, says it all, and boy did we regret it! We explained our stay was booked with breakfast, but she did not agree, as her computer said it was room only. However, despite us explaining that our booking was made on-line by via our phone stating breakfast was included, she was adamant that it was room only. After showing her our confirmation that breakfast was included, she eventually accepted our booking status, but did not apologise or say that she made a mistake. What a disgrace and, quite frankly, what an ******* response, and I am being kind! As for our room. Let's start with the positive. It was spacious and clean. That's it! The hotel reception space is a good size. Other than that, it's a 1980's/ 1990's design! As for our room, the phone did not work. The TV is very small. Only decaff coffee available in the room. The lamps barely worked, with so little light, and the heater did not work at all. The wardrobe doors do not close, and the place is as far from luxurious as I can describe, and we have stayed at literally hundreds of hotels across the globe!!! The bed (to be fair) was comfortable, but due to their bizarre heating system, the room was cold during the night. I can't believe that we had to pay for this garbage! This must be a joke! Oh My God, it surely must be a joke! This hotel is like Fawlty Towers. PLEASE, please DO NOT STAY HERE. Even when I ordered a pint of Guinness from their bar, they gave me gave me a can poured into a glass for £4.50. Wow! What a sh*t hole! I still feel that someone will contact us and say we were part of some sort of prank, but good God, it was a real hotel experience! A zero star rating would be extremely generous. The cheap price is there for a rea
