Rimu Lodge

Rimu Lodge was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, the owner, Sue Allen, made us feel incredibly welcome. Our room was beautifully decorated and offered a breathtaking view, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Every detail was thoughtfully curated—from the fresh milk for our tea and coffee to the complimentary drinks and chocolates, all adding to the sense of warmth and hospitality. Breakfast was exceptional, with a delicious selection of cooked options to choose from. The entire experience was nothing short of wonderful. I highly recommend staying for at least two nights to fully appreciate the charm and comfort of this remarkable lodge.

A Gem of a Place to Stay This was an absolutely fantastic place to stay. What a gem! Sue Ellen could not have been more welcoming - even making a dinner reservation for us and updating the restaurant because we were running late. Rimu Lodge is delightful. The rooms are large, contemporary yet cosy, beautifully decorated and with lots of little touches such as a turn down service, exquisite bathroom products and fine quality chocolate treats to welcome you. The super king bed was extremely comfortable and my husband and I slept like tops! Our room opened out onto a gorgeous veranda where, weather permitting, you can stargaze at night and relax during the day. We arrived too late for the welcome happy hour drinks to meet our host and other guests, but this was another lovely touch. Breakfast was divine. High quality ingredients, fresh fruits and pastries plus beautifully cooked hot options. Both hubby and I had the French toast which was accompanied by a divine fruit compote. Totally delicious. Sue Ellen was really helpful in providing tips on what to see and do in the area and relating to our onward journey. Thank you Sue Ellen for being so kind and attentive. We really felt that it was important to you that we enjoyed our stay and we appreciate the effort you made on our behalves. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rimu Lodge. You won't be disappointed.

Luxurious b&b with a large terrace giving views of the river, mountains and sunsets. We’ll appointed spacious rooms. Host provided an excellent breakfast and early evening drinks. Within walking distance of local character restaurant. Charming host, highly recommended.

Amazing place place to stay. Sue-Ellen is the perfect host. Love the idea of happy hour between 5-6pm where she supplies drinks and you get to meet the other guests. There are just 4 rooms but definitely high end. You can walk to the local bar where we had a lovely meal and the bar brings you back to the lodge! Sue gave us plenty of ideas where to go to and provide maps etc. couldn’t fault this at all

We spent two nights at Rimu Lodge, a delightful hideaway with 4 guest rooms. Beautifully presented by SueEllen, who makes all her guests feel special. Real attention to detail, whether it be big fluffy towels, quality bed linen or deliciously presented fruit at breakfast. The high ceilinged lounge / breakfast room with its comfortable sofas, fresh fragrant flowers and abundance of coffee table books about the local area and wildlife was a great place to relax. This really is a super place which you’ll love from the moment you arrive, and you’ll be missing it from the moment you leave……. Thank you for looking after us
