This trip was to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday so we chose this hotel having eaten in it approximately 13 years ago and we were highly impressed. This was to be a very difficult experience. Àlthough the hotel kindly allowed us to use car park at hotel and they advised they only had one "superior" room on first floor with no lift but they did help in with luggage but not out. What they didn't say was that it was two steps into bath to get to the shower. Very difficult. The house keeping was poor. Once the mark from my head was still on the pillow after cleaning room. The toiletries were sparce as were many things . A sherry etc tray was placed on check-in desh but we were not offered any. The decor in our room was overpowering . I was very old, dusty and dressed blanket on bed was Bally. It was a large room but needed completely revamped. The bathroom was no better with cracked tiles and a leaking toilet which was fixed immediately. I had a job to stop my husband checking out of hotel on second day. The front on house staff were pleasant but over worked from reception to serving breakfast to drying off and preparing outside tables, to say nothing of serving evening meals. On the evening before we left I paid the bill and explained to Sarah who was lovely all our issues and she apologised. I asked if the manager could contact me asap after we left because I wanted to be polite and give him a chance to explain, however one week later and I have had no contact from him, in fact at no time during our week stay did he greet us or even acknowledge us. The food especially breakfast like the toiletries was sparce. There was no acknowledgement of my dear husband's birthday. How disappointing. The hotel is not being taken care of neither inside nor out.......I'll say no more.

The front of house staff were very friendly & helpful. A credit to the hotel. From thereon in, it was all downhill. The general manager never made himself known to us. Our welcome letter promised us a memorable experience. It did, but for all the wrong reasons. The hotel appeared to be very tired & needs redecorating externally & refurbing internally. Our Room 2 was down at heel. A previous leak in the ceilings not mended & leaked rainwater on our last night. Appalling thin, stained old carpets you could see the floorboards underneath. Leaking coffee machine. Cracked toilet seat. Dripping, swivelling taps. Dirty windows. Feature gardens were untended & a wilderness. The AA inspector calls this 'sumptuous luxury' By no stretch of the imagination was this 'sumptuous luxury'

Service excellent. Property needs updating and maintenance. Furniture's dated. Good breakfast. Evening meal a little over priced, as is the only pub in the village owned by hotel owner. Nearby a very picturesque little bay, one bus stop to Jersey Zoo, other than that nothing else. 2 nights is plenty.

AVOID!! Would give zero rating if I could. This once gem in the Jersey crown is now well and truly past it's sell by date and living off old reviews. On the ground floor it looks like they've sold all the furniture in a bid to keep the hotel open an extra day or two. Apart from the bar and a small desk in reception the rest of the ground floor rooms, which once housed a fabulous restaurant and lounge are stripped bare. Hotel sign proports they are a 4 star property. If that is the case Jersey Tourism need to check it out!!! Very sad, in it's day it was fabulous

Just lovely! Charming, cozy, welcoming hotel, with lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff (thank you Nassim ,Sarah, Chloe) set in a simply gorgeous location in Rozel. Food at the associated restaurant/gastropub The Rozel first class. Had a great chat to very engaging new chef Ross this morning who has brilliant pedigree from London and lots of exciting ideas - good luck Ross! and if you can’t find someone else to dive for your scallops in the bay, I’ll gladly volunteer! In all, truly lovely. Thank you and we’ll be back.

Been staying here for over a decade. This time even though we had booked a particular room several months ago, on arrival we were told that someone had extended their stay and we couldn’t have it! Two choices left! Why didn’t they move the current occupiers to another room then? We had booked it out. Secondly, the Chateau hasn’t updated any rooms for years. They are scruffy in parts, even the electrics look like they need work on them. They have stopped doing the fine dining evening meals which was a special experience in the Chateau, and only offer a pub meal down the road. So to get something special you need to travel out. There is no attention to detail around the place, not many staff and sadly this is now lacking in quality and needs much TLC. Ran out of yogurt at breakfast which is a basic, and several items on multiple days. Also little was out on the buffet compared to previous years. When Kasia was there we always felt more pride was taken in the surroundings. Unlikely to return unless we see much seems to have changed.

This is a beautiful building in delightful grounds. A stay here should produce happy memories. Sadly, it didn’t. Shortage of staff seems to be part of the problem. I only saw two individuals and both were doubling up roles. Our hot breakfast was cold (we had a five pounds reduction for that on our total bill), the bedroom was suffocatingly hot and there was no public area in the hotel where we could escape from the intrusive music. Would I stay again? No. Would I recommend? No.
