It’s in a great location for all you want in a town. It has a cool vibe & a nice buzz.
I was welcomed warmly, but disappointed to discover at check-in my room was on the 5th floor & no lift! A disability prevents me from doing many stairs. I was offered an upgrade for an extra £20, so I paid. (In hindsight feel this is a common practice & felt a bit conned). I then found out I still had 2 flights of stairs to the first floor!! 😩
The room was spacious & tastefully decorated as you will see by the photos. A spare bed in the room, great for families. Nice coffee & tea facilities.
I found the room very cold, so told a member of staff & asked if the heating was coming on or what could they do, I never heard from anyone in response, so was very cold in the evening.
If you don’t like to be cold & lots of stairs are a problem don’t book.
If those are not a problem then it’s a characterful hotel, with a great restaurant. Just avoid being talked into an upgrade!!!

Room 53 It is like climbing Ben Nevis up all the stairs, no lift folks. The layer of dust on the furniture and the coffee machine was totally awful. If id have been booked in for 2 nights, I would have been checking out and finding somewhere else for the 2nd night. The bed was comfortable and the bedding looked clean. Great location. They just need to have a house keeper who has pride in doing a great job. Not the only review that mentions the cleaning.

Just wanted to leave a quick review so that everyone knows how awesome the food is here. I took my daughter here to celebrate her university results and our lunch was amazing. Highly recommend their Ribeye steak and lobster. Definitely plan on returning.

First of all let me say that the staff here are lovely. Yes there are loads of stairs and no lift so if you have mobility issues or loads of luggage then this hotel is not for you. The public car park is a few minutes walk away and costs £10 for 24 hours. Now the bad bits.. I echo other reviewers in saying that the cleanliness here is non existant. Our room was a disgrace, as can be seen from my photos. The toilet brush was rusted and caked in god knows what I could have written my name in the dust which was absolutely everywhere including the tea tray The carpets hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner in weeks At over £100 a night I expect more Staff were very apologetic and our room was given a clean the next day BUT our first night was marred by the filth and dirt. Unacceptable!

I was booked here through work. It’s 90°. They have no AC most of the windows are painted shut and don’t open up the restaurant is closed. They have warm water available for you to drink. There’s no lift and no help to get your bags up the stairs and go figure I’m on the fourth floor. Definitely not a place I would ever recommend to anyone maybe if your into hostiles or van life living. Very poor service and that’s me trying to remain positive.

Friendly check in. We were on top floor with so many steps to climb. Room was clean and comfortable. Whilst I appreciate this is an old hotel and they’re probably keeping its character, it does need some updating and a bit of TLC. Provided shampoo and body wash but body wash wouldn’t come out. No conditioner which is a bit stingy. Bed was very comfortable and slept well. Breakfast was very nice but very expensive.

Ambiance intérieure de la salle de restaurant agréable ,les décors verts anglais reposants sont d' un charme fou comme nous aimons .Le personnel au bar et dans la salle est très sensible à l'accueil des français , c'était un moyen de converser pour transmettre quelques mots en Français. Nous recommandons pour les français . Etablissement propre et bien placé sur " Pantiles"
