Great welcome. Manager/owner he was at the entrance to welcome us in as we got out the car and offered to carry bags which was lovely. Asked if we needed breakfast but we didnt as heading off early to the market. Quirky rooms but all well decorated and tea/coffee, ironing board. Had air condition unit and fan as a top floor hot room so good was there already. Only a one night stop over but would definitely recommend/ return in the future.

Very reasonably priced hotel, with a great family run team. Plenty of parking, excellent links to the M50/A40 etc. The room was spacious, clean, and tidy. The tea and coffee making facilities were generously stocked. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was fantastic. I opted for breakfast included and for only £10, I got an excellent made to order cooked breakfast. The whole stay was great. It didn't feel like staying in a Premier Inn or a Holiday Inn etc, where everyone is "just an employee" - this was much more personal and amenable. It felt more like someone was kindly letting me stay in their home. I would definitely return.

We stayed here for only 1 night on a whistle stop visit with our daughters to Wales and Ross On Wye. From the moment we arrived, Steve and Georgina the owners made us feel so welcome, explaining about breakfast, meals at night and our room. Our daughters stayed at the local Premier Inn and we stayed here in room 7. Georgina showed us up and said we had the best view, she wasn’t wrong. It overlooked the River Wye and you could see the town in the distance, what a view to wake up to in the morning. We went to the local pub just up the road called the White Lion, sat outside looking over the water and it was so beautiful with the Swans and Geese. We decided to eat at the Castle Lodge as it had good reviews on Tripadvisor, those reviews didn’t lie, we all finished our plates, my Salmon was probable the best I’ve tasted, well done mine hosts. The puddings, especially the Eton Mess were huge and delicious, blackberry and apple crumble also so tasty. Steve was funny and very friendly, we all staggered back to our rooms fit to burst. Our room was very clean, all refurbished, high end toiletries, a fan, tea, coffee, biscuits, all very thoughtful. The shower was excellent as well. We had a nice chat with Steve as we left, our only downside was that we only stayed 1 night. Thank you for our stay, we wish you all the best for the future.

Stayed here as recommended by friends who had stayed previously. Looks like the owners appear to have lost Interest in the business as they were unwelcoming and at times verging on rude. It was almost as if we were a nuisance staying there. As an example, no explanation given regarding the modus operandi for breakfast. That said, the cooked to order hot food was ery nice. Room could have been cleaner with many flies both dead and alive in the bathroom despite window being kept shut. Evening meal was again average for the price but service was lacking. Good location close to main road but far enough not to hear traffic and a pleasant walk along the river into Ross on Wye.

This is a lovely hospitable hotel, we enjoyed our 1 night stay. We asked for a room with a view of the river which we was very impressed with. The room and bathroom were both spacious. the hotel is in a great location for a lovely short walk into town.

We stayed a night at the Castle Lodge hotel on an 8 day cycle tour. The hosts were really friendly and accommodating. The room was large and clean. The bed very comfortable too. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty to eat. It’s a shortish walk to town along the lovely river Wye.

This was a last minute booking on my way home and what a find. This little independent hotel was just what I needed on my way back up north. From the moment I arrived the owner was very welcoming and showed me to my room. The room was very clean and welcoming with all the amenities you would expect. The food was excellent and very well priced. It has a fully stocked bar that is very cozy. Overy all very enjoyable stay.

We stayed 3 nights and had breakfast each morning. The room was perfectly clean and had some character but plenty of space. The full English breakfasts were just the right size and cooked to order. The hotel is walking distance into the center of town and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would fully recommend this hotel and it's incredible value for money.
