We had a lovely weekend at the Royal hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was fairly small, but the bed comfortable, and there was a bath as well as a shower. We enjoyed a pleasant evening meal, and the continental breakfasts were excellent, with lovely fresh fruit and a wide choice of other foods. The hotel is really well situated, near the centre of the town, next to the beautiful and interesting church and Prospect gardens. It's perched on a hilltop with great views from the terrace.

Thank you Royal hotel! Always our go to for a local meal and lovely views on a beautiful day across the River Wye. A big shout out to Carol who looked after us! Nothing was too much trouble and just an overall lovely person, a big credit to the Royal hotel! We will see u again.

Popped into The Royal for lunch yesterday on the off chance of getting a table. Welcome was lovely and they managed to get us a table. Carol looked after us and was fab very chatty and nothing was too much trouble. Great service will be visiting again.

Beautiful hotel, rooms are very nice, spacious and the beds are comfortable, only issue is no power plugs near the bed. Carol who served us breakfast this morning was super friendly and service was brilliant! Plenty of choice for breakfast either cooked or continental.

Stayed for one night for a wedding at the hotel. Views were fantastic, rooms were very spacious & comfortable. Bar prices very reasonable & the staff were excellent, particularly head waitress Carol who couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommended.

We spent 2 nights here on a short break, staying in the annex with a small balcony with views of the river and countryside. The room was clean and spacious, however our only niggle was that the pillows were a bit too full/ hard for us meaning one wasn't enough but two were too high. As others had mentioned, while all staff were courteous and helpful, Carol was always full of joy and happiness at breakfast in the mornings.

We have just returned from a short break. River view room was comfortable and spacious. Great view of countryside. Hotel was perfectly situated with parking. Staff were very helpful and food was good. Big shout out to Carol who looked after the breakfast guests. Amazing service ,friendly welcome and an absolute joy to talk to. You can. Tell she loves her job. Definitely will return .

We were doing a cycling ride from Oxford to Wales and stopped off via the royal hotel in Ross-on-Wye. It was wonderful very nice food reasonable price splendid accommodation and fantastically welcoming helpful staff we will very likely return their but maybe he's without doing all the cycling

The hotel was very friendly. Our room had a lovely river view and was very spacious with a very comfortable sofa. The staff were very efficient and nothing was too much trouble. It was much better than the usual chain hotel. The cooked breakfast is very good value, with a choice of menu.
