Scandic Arlandastad

We stayed one night after our trip to Helsinki and before flying home to the US the next morning. The staff were very hospitable. The room was spotless. The breakfast was fantastic; wish the American chain hotels would put in half the effort in their grim offerings. Will stay here again.

Don´t trust what you hear at the frontdesk. I have been told again and again that I could park my truck at the parkinglot, but always agreed to park it, as far away from the main entrance, as possible. I have done so around 10 times, no problem! Last time I got a parking ticket at the hotels parkinglot, and sudently the hotel said they never had given me permission to park at there parkinglot, eventho this is not true! So be aware that this hotel has a bad management, and will run away from there responsebility- you as guest, are only a paying sheep in there eyes. AND the rooms smell a bit like vomet, it´s he same on all the different rooms I have stayed in, mayby just some fancy cleaning agent?

This is a beautiful hotel, with gorgeous design, lighting etc. Unfortunately, all you really want of a hotel is a good night's sleep, which we didn't get, hence the 3/5. Our stay didn't start off well, trying to catch the shuttle bus from the airport (which is free, big plus!). What no one bothered to tell us was that the shuttle bus is not marked "Scandic" but with the logo of a carpark. The driver claimed we weren't there and went back to the hotel. He might have been there, but he didn't come out to ask if we were his customers, and as we had no way of knowing which bus was ours, we didn't go up and ask random drivers. The driver also claimed that we were waiting at the wrong stop (no12) and that they always now stop at no14 and pointedly gave me a card. Which said that the bus stops at no12... When we got to the hotel our room had a double bed and a sofa. We had booked for four people and the picture on the website showed a bunk bed. I walked down to the reception to say that the children's beds didn't seem to be made, but they assured me that I'd just have to pull out the sofa bed. This seems like something they should have told us when checking in, and it's also a weird thing to ask of your customers. I'm glad my husband was there to manhandle the bed into shape. Once we got it out, we found that it only had one single duvet and no pillows. It was also a small double sofa bed, a cheap springy kind. Our kids are teens and were not keen on sharing a tiny double bed, so it ended up with the grown-ups in the sofa bed and the kids in the large double bed (this was after the receptionist had brought up the missing bedding). The sofa bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and made me feel seasick, so I ended up swapping with my son hallway through the night, which unfortunately meant he didn't sleep much. The room was also very cold and the thermostat didn't make a huge difference. We were thankful that breakfast was included in the price, but was slightly concerned that everything was just laying uncovered - any person carrying covid could sneeze on the cheese and spread it to everyone. I'm aware that most hotels are struggling at the moment, and have to run their business with a skeleton staff and many other pandemic-related challenges, and I'm sure the poor communication etc was mostly due to this. But anyone booking a family room may want to call and check that there are bunkbeds, not a wobbly sofa bed for the kids!

We chose this hotel because of our consistent great experiences at almost every other Scandic I’ve stayed at in Europe. This time, I had my wife with me for her first trip to Europe. While I have stayed at other Scandic properties that may be more attractive on the outside, once inside, the hotel staff showed all the reasons that I love staying at Scandic hotels while on business trips to Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. The entire service staff did an excellent job at helping me show my wife a great first impression of Europe, and especially Sweden. Thanks to the Scandic Arlandstad staff for making a great first impression on my wife, and keeping up the very high quality standards that I’ve come to appreciate in the Scandic brand!

Stayed there 2 times in November and one time in January. Next week I will be there again. 3 times in a row in 3 different rooms there was a blocked drain in the shower. Pretty annoying after unpacking and so. The 3rd time I checked if the shower drain was working and it did, but the day after it was the same thing again. All 3 times I got another room. The last time I got an upgrade and could pick something from the hotel shop. No complaints about the staff, the rooms in general and the offered solutions, but very typical that the same thing happens 3 times in a row. See what next week brings....
