The Lakes Rookley

We had an amazing week at The Lakes Rookley. Such a beautiful park, very well looked after and spotlessly clean. Lovely lakes, 2 swimming pools, beautiful restaurant and a cute little arcade. Every member of staff we spoke to was friendly and happy in their jobs. We stayed in one of the lake houses and it was beautifully clean and welcoming. We’ve made so many memories this week we can’t wait to come back.

Family uk holiday to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. I booked the exclusive lakehouse for £800 for 4 nights. I was expecting it to be much better to be honest. The lodge was quite dirty, the skirting boards were filthy, the shower traps were blocked. Under the beds looked as though they hadn't been hoovered for months. The outside needed maintenance, the woodwork was in dire need of painting. For £200 per night this is definately over priced and being a host of a holiday property myself, I would be disgusted if my housekeeper was being paid to leave the accommodation in such a poor state. The windows were filthy. The pictures on the website look so much more inviting but anyone looking to book need to be aware. The entertainment was a bit grim,not many people in the resort, but maybe this is because it is very much overpriced for what is there.

The lifeguards were incredible at their job! The loveliest people to chat to especially Regan, Logan, Ptolly and Evie. They was always happy to help and support with everything & made sure we was comfortable with the experience including the lakes and demonstrating what I needed to do. They were always up for a chat and laugh but was always watching the pool if anything happened. Cottage could have been cleaned a lot better before moving in, beds could do with two pillows and garden should be clean before moving in when we got brambles all over

10/10 lifeguards, always smiley and ready to help, they ensured we were happy within the resort and in the pool always ready to act when needed. A big shout out to Logan, Regan and Evie. Cottage could have done with a deep clean. No Wifi in cottage.

The place needs a complete re-vamp. Our Elusive Lake House needed a complete clean, new paint and bath rooms refreshing. The curtains where also dirty and marked along with the cooker just every tiered worn and needed replacing. We booked two Lake Houses and one was bad the main door would not open so was very hot, floors not cleaned and to top it off had ant's coming in !!! In the end she was move to a holiday cottage which was although not perfect ( Coving hanging off Sealing, Poor Slabs totally dangerous it was liveable). We had seen reviews of how bad it was after we had already booked and did write to hoseasons via their feed back form and got no reply !!!! yet they was quick enough to reply on other questions. The positives - The Food was good, Staff Friendly and Helpful and site location great. The Negatives - Accommodation needs cleaning major overhaul outside and in it's very tired and needs a serious cash injection to put right. The Bar closed at 9.30pm final orders on two nights !!! rubbish, Half the Arcade machines swallowed your money or did not work and although the pool is great the lack of changing facilities so privacy is an issue. So based on the reviews I would personally say avoid this site we will not go back again unless we saw better reviews and they had done it up. To top it off they cleaned the Lake House my daughter was in and re-rented it out despite the door now working... and Guess what that Couple Managed to open it then could not lock it and staff claimed to not know their was issues as we overheard the conversation !!! I doubt now we can trust Hoseasons again.

My partner and I stayed for a short 3 night break. While I cannot fault the caravan or the layout of the site, it was poor in my opinion in amenities. Our stay was from Sunday to Wednesday morning. No entertainment or bingo on those days/evening. Although reception told us bingo was on Thursday, Friday Saturday. They link up with thier sister sites on the island and the previous nights jackpot was over £900. The outdoor amenities near our caravan remained closed on the entire stay. They have a very small amusement arcade and a very small pool.
