The pickings are slim for decent places to stay in Rockaway. As part of a several day trip to the coast, based on the website and reviews, we chose the Rockaway Beach Resort. We found it to be a mixed bag. The pros: check in was smooth and the desk staff very friendly. The room was very clean and the "resort," sits right on the oceanfront with nice, ample balconies. The cons: The website says "cable TV," but that is a very loose description. Technically correct, I suppose, but it is some weird Samsung TV/Roku-like system, so live, local channels were elusive at best (we found a couple of local channels doing news). There was only one TV....none in the bedroom. The beds are queen-size -- which the website stated -- so small and kind of "springy." That is, when my husband first laid down, he said, "I think I bounced." There was a sofa, but it was also older and the cushions have lost most of their definition, so we both had trouble getting up from it. There is a fireplace, but it doesn't radiate much heat. And, there is no elevator, which even though it is stated in the fine print on the website, it is just worth mentioning. We shortened our stay and the staff kindly refunded us 50% of our second night, which we appreciated. They also offered the other option was to give us a raincheck for another time. We declined because we would not go there again.

Very nice, well maintained beach resort. Steps to the beach, lovely balcony, and every possible kitchen tool you would need. The beds were comfortable and having 2 bathrooms made it very comfortable! Can’t wait to go back! A very comfortable space for 3-5 people! The resort was full capacity and we never heard anyone else.

We arrived Saturday July 27th for our reservation at Rockaway Resort. We were placed in room 3001 for a four day stay. Upon arrival to the room we were overwhelmed by a sour disgusting smell in the bedroom. The windows were open and there were several flies in the room. We noticed that there were large wet stains on the carpet in the bedroom. We then went to the manager on duty and said we could not possibly stay in that room due to the stench and that it appeared that an animal had defecated or was sick on the rug. She then said that it was not an animal but a family that had food poisoning and vomited on the rug. We emphasized that we would not stay in that room. She then made a call and found an "emergency" room that we could stay the night. We were absolutely appalled and disgusted that your organization would allow anyone to be in a room that was not properly cleaned. This is a health hazard and totally unacceptable. We proceeded to change our airline reservations to leave on Sunday rather than Wednesday due to the unavailability of rooms at your resort or any vacancies at nearby establishments.

It was great to be able to go outside from unit and enjoy the fresh beach air, the view up and down the beach and wonderful views.

I agree with previous reviews that the units are outdated, and the furniture layout was a bit awkward, but my unit was clean, and the view and beach access was absolutely unbeatable. The location along the coast allowed easy access both north and south to enjoyable day trips and Rockaway Beach was a destination itself. I knew in advance the balconies were inaccessible but was still able to enjoy the view and take many stunning pictures from the threshold. Every interaction with staff was friendly and helpful. I can't wait to visit again.

This must be the worst RCI resort I have ever been in. Furniture old and tacky. Carpets dirty, no dish washer in unit. One got a list of what to do when you leave the unit, like ***** the bed and put soiled linens and towels in a provided case, wash the dishes, empty the trash. The balconies could not be used because of structural problems. But the really bad thing was the Drones which were allowed on the property. I felled spied on since my privacy was invaded with them floating in front of the balconies. The only good thing about this resort was the view.
