DO NOT STAY HERE! If you are on vacation or generally want a safe and clean place to stay do not book this hotel for any reason. They do not clean between guests. When we arrived the floor was filthy, covered in dirt, hair, and bugs. The glass nightstand top was covered in fingerprints and crumbs. There wasn't even proper bedding on the bed, just a top sheet and a thin blanket. We were one of the lucky ones who didn't have bugs in our bed, it seems. Still, we were so disgusted we didn't even want to stand in the shower or sit on the bed. We were also in a non-smoking room that reeked of cigarette smoke. Nearly every room was booked by long-term tenants who sat outside, some half dressed, smoking. I felt incredibly unsafe being there and did not even want to walk around the property. It was so incredibly unpleasant to be here that we left and booked a new hotel 30 minutes after arriving. Seriously, do not stay here. (Let's see how fast they reply to this review with fake information)

Would give this place negative if that was an option. Even after being warned from family not to stay there, we gave it a try because of the 3:30/4am arrival NH with 2 small dogs. 1st red flag was the office was always locked and only contact was with your cell phone during the stay with No phone in our room . 2nd red flag was given a price over the phone speaking to one person with broken English and having another person on the line speak up saying they would check us in after giving us directions. Checking in our rate went from $370 for 2 nights to $400 with an explanation the person with the accent gave us the wrong amount. 2nd red flag, our room was just ok, but the direct tv didn't work and the bathroom sink didn’t drain very well. Later that morning someone from housekeeping was sent down to see what was happening with the DTV (which never did get fixed) and told housing keeping she didn’t need to clean our room until we checked out as we were only there a short time. 3rd red flag the office was still locked mid morning, found housekeeping to get a hair dyer. After using our towels twice, I went back to the office for clean towels Saturday night for the next morning. Then spent over an hr using the toilet plunger to unplug the bathroom sink. 4th red flag decided to definitely not spend another night after still going to be charged another $400 Friday or Saturday weekend rate. 5th red flag Checking out mid morning Sunday, the office was still locked but the young lady we spoke first time on phone did let me in. I returned the hair dryer and had to ask for a receipt which did not reflect at all the cost of the room. Just the price of the room and taxes/fess that equaled $400. Not even the charge for the 2 dogs.! Upon getting the credit card bill yesterday, there was a charge of $100 after we checked out on the 15th. Upon inquiring about the charge, was told had to call back in 20mins so she could look into it. Calling back was told for “Using the towels as toilet paper!” A horrible argument ensued, and asked to speak with the owner. The young lady with the accent replied she was the owner. From there she should never be in the hospitality business. Instead of working to rectify, she just caused more and more hostility, rudeness, attitude. Called credit card to dispute the charge and will continue fighting this made up charge. She said she has photos which of course there is no way to prove they came from our room, especially seeing other rooms that were trashed. Will see what happens when credit card company files their dispute!

Staff is always friendly and helpful. The flowers and all make the property look really nice. It's an older property and they are trying to fix it up but that takes time. It's a little dated in some places. But my room was clean. Plenty of hot water and it was quiet.

I have stayed at the Anchorage Inn several times over the years to attend family funerals in Rochester NH. It has always been serviceable. The condition of the motel has definitely declined. The beds were clean, but the walls, furnishings and bathroom facilities were all in need of major updating and repairs. The TV was not working. There is no ice machine. There was a good wifi connection. The staff were helpful, but not up to the huge task of improving the conditions. It is a great location so I hope the motel can make improvements and stay in business.

Rooms were in shambles! So dirty, sheets were filthy with multiple, scary-looking stains. Towels were also stained and smelled. Holes in wall, and bathroom ceiling was crumbling. No toilet paper holder to be found. Bed was creaky and springs broken. One redeeming quality was AC actually worked. However, the filter was filthy as well. Would never stay here again.

Quick stay in Rochester The room was ok. However, there were dead bugs behind the couch, a stain on the left side of the bed blanket, we found an empty prescription packet in the nightstand on that same side for an antipsychotic medication. The shower was in serious need of repair and cleaning and the toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall. It was ok for a quick overnight stay because it was close to the Rochester Opera House but not a place for most travelers!
