Short Version: The room I stayed in had bed bugs (I had 17 bites with all the markings of bed bugs). The hotel says they did an inspection and says they found nothing, but I can assure you there most definitely are. DO NOT STAY HERE. Long Version: I stayed in a room at this hotel and by the morning of the 3rd day, I had 17 bed bug bites all over my body (extremely itchy, red, in a line, swollen and raised, etc.) so I checked the bed and sure enough there was a double-zippered mattress protector (the kind you specifically buy for bed bugs). When I showed my bites to the staff, they let me swap rooms (interestingly, the new room bed did not have a double zippered mattress protector...) but they were unwilling to provide a refund or any reimbursement without their exterminator checking the room. It was a horrible experience at the stay because even after swapping rooms, we had to bag all of our clothes and things into giant trash bags. They allowed me to use their washer and dryer but the staff said the laundry detergent was "purchasable" from the lobby. We put all our clothes and anything made of cloth/fabric through the washer and dryer and put everything into black trash bags and tied them tight and kept everything in the car to hope for the heat to kill them. To this day (2+ weeks later), I still have everything in the car bc I'm scared to bring it into my home and possibly spread the bed bugs. To make this experience worse, I had asked the hotel to call me back with the report from the inspector but they never sent it so I had to call back multiple times to get a hold of a Manager who I could talk to. I spoke to the manager, Ashley (who was perfectly civil), but they said that because the inspector didn't find "any evidence" of bed bugs, they couldn't give me any compensation. While I appreciate their corporate rules, I had 17 horrible bed bug bites on my body, I had to put all my clothes in trash bags, I have to be in fear of bringing bed bugs back to my home, and deal with all of the stress and anxiety that comes from it. They were completely unsympathetic and basically saying my claim of bed bugs was untrue. 5+ years ago my apartment got bed bugs, I know for a fact this was bed bugs. Tldr; This hotel has bed bugs but will not disclose this to you nor reimburse you for the terrible experience they KNOW they have on their hands. Do not stay here. I am in the process of speaking to their corporate office so another guest doesn't have to go through this same experience. And I will no longer ever stay at a Hampton Inn & Suites if they cannot trust a guest who showed the front desk their bit up arms and legs and yet still say there's "no evidence". Hotels cannot always control whether they get bbs or not, but they can control their customer service response and this is unacceptable.
