We decided to break our journey on the Garden Route and stayed overnight in this most divine place within the beautiful village of Riversdale. The period accommodation, service and restaurant were all excellent and very good value for money. Wait until you taste their fine wines - even better!

This is a quaint hotel from a bygone age - nothing fancy, just plain old-fashioned charm, oozing history. The food is good, the service friendly and the garden ambience a pleasure. It's an ideal overnight stop on the Garden Route halfway between Cape Town and Knysna.

This was our first stop over in Riversdale, touring with a family member from Ireland. From the very warm welcome to the lovely accommodation we could not be happier and would definitely go back here when in the vicinity. The accommodation is old, and steeped in history of a bygone day. The owners have a marathon task with upkeep on the "old bones" but are doing it valiantly. The staff are very accommodating and the meals tastefully presented and delicious.

One night stay was delightful
We loved our stay at Doorn Kraal.
Firstly the staff are lovely and so professional.
Our room (the 2 bedroom cottage) was super neat and tidy, and it had everything we needed and it was very quiet as it’s a bit further away. Just be mindful at night, there may be one or two spiders in the trees when you walk to the cottage (have a flashlight). The food was soo delicious, we could not stop thinking about the wonderful dinner. We will stay again. Thanks to all the staff!

The room was comfortable although very warm. Maybe a better fan or ceiling fan could help. The food was really good so is the house wine. Overall a great experience and nice stop over.
