In order to check in to the residence/hotel you actually have to go to the Speort Hotel Spogler about 2.5km away to get your room key. We did not know. We showed up to the residenz building, which is also a “cafe” (read: bar) where it seems that all the local very old men hang out to smoke and drink and gamble. The bartender explained about checking in elsewhere. Ok. We leave, get the key, come back. There are two parking areas. The very small parking area is meant for the cafe/bar customers. The larger area is meant for the apartments. If you park in the wrong lot you may get blocked in and then scolded for being blocked in. There is a door that connects the bar/cafe to the apartment hallway/stairwell, which was propped open the day we arrived so we thought that was the way to access the apartments from the parking area. The next day the bar staff yelled at us for coming through and then locked that door! Ok, even if the bar and the hotel are unrelated businesses with separate ownership, you’d think that the bar would be a little more welcoming to the built in customer base right above them! Luckily the staff here were the only rude people we’ve encountered on the whole mountain. The apartments themselves are roomy, good for family groups. We were a party of 11 spread through 3 of the apartments. Able to cook breakfast together. The wifi is “available” but was so slow during the day we think it may have been turned off at certain times? The view of the mountain range is gorgeous from every room. We had thunder and lightning storms every night and the big windows made it easy to enjoy the storm.
