The overall experience was great, breakfast had a good variety, receptionist Bruno was polite and helpful, and the location was excellent. The rooms need more attention in terms of cleaning, especially the bathrooms. The sheets need to be changed, they are old and yellowed. And they need to change the way they identify guests. The bracelet makes us vulnerable to being approached on the street, which makes it dangerous.

Equipe muito boa, quartos arrumados e otima localizacao. Não usamos este tipo de acomodacao normalmente mas gostamos de esperimentar novas experiencias e adoramos. O intercambio com pessoas de outros paises foi muito interessante. Ficamos em 3 opcoes de acomodacao em nossas ferias de Fevereiro e esta foi bem diferente.

I opted for a bed in the 10-bed female dorm at Carneval. Cost me $90 with an official airport taxi but for this uninitiated female solo traveller I just wanted to take the easiest route for arriving late on a Saturday night. Very much a young backpackers place, you will party and you will drink here if you don't go to the 'English' bar across the road which is where I did go and had a grand time chatting to the bar staff who were a bit older than my fellow bedmates (who were all lovely, by the way). It's as clean as it can be for a quick turnaround place, free drinks between 7-8pm and the staff were just lovely. Helpful and friendly. Short walk from the beach. I felt safe wandering at night here and the Metro is a block or so away. Only tiny grumble is that the photos on tripadvisor are not of the Ipanema site; it's a lot, lot smaller!

This place has the worst hospitality ever. I made a reservation on ******* to reserve now pay later. However, Che Lagarto tried to charge me before the due date. I tried several emails expecting them to answer to confirm my reservation but they didn't respond. When my trip was approaching, I sent another email and they advised me to call a number in Argentina which according to them I should have done a while ago to secure my reservation. I was never told anything about that before. It's cruel to do this to a customer because my flight is in 2 days and now all other hotels are booked. Horrible staff! Don't go there!
