The Petersham

I can only say the location is ideal. The rest of the hotel is average. I didn't appreciate the snobbishness of the front-line staff, esp. in this day & age. Clientele mainly retirees, so you know what to expect. Be prepared for a hot summer night!

We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past usually for special occasions like an anniversary or my husbands retirement so with our silver anniversary looming next month we decided to push the boat out and booked a one night stay on 2nd June for the penthouse suite for a sum of £488 plus 3.75% discretionary service charge including breakfast not exactly cheap for a Monday night. We made the booking a week ago. On Saturday, my husband, as a surprise, telephoned the hotel and asked for a further night to be added on Tuesday 3rd of June which is actually our anniversary. He was told that an email would follow with confirmation. By Monday night this had not arrived so I emailed asking for the invoice. It took a further two hours to arrive but when it did our first night had been cancelled and the new invoice for two nights had both nights increased to £503 per night plus the discretionary charge. There was no explanation or apology. I was so incensed that I immediately emailed again asking what was going on and cancelling the whole stay. I immediately got a reply confirming the cancellation, nothing else just the cancellation. Out of interest I went back into the site and saw that the two nights we had previously booked were now being offered at £525 per night plus the discretionary service charge. Talk about profiteering! Needless to say we will never use this hotel again

Stayed for 2 nights as part of a wedding party. Location of the hotel is excellent with a decent sized car park and within walking distance of the river or town centre. We had a Superior Room that was spacious with a large walk-in shower in the en-suite plus 'his' & 'hers' basins. Breakfast was served in the main dining room where the views were superb - the tables were a good size and well presented. Choice from the menu was first class and the food itself delicious. Service was very good and the staff generally were lovely. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

We went to the Petersham for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday and everything was perfect! The views from the restaurant over the Thames are spectacular. All the details were spot on, lovely crockery, delicious food, friendly and attentive staff. We would definitely revisit. Beautiful hotel, stunning views and great food and service. Can’t ask for more than that.
