Our second time here for another special treat. It’s not cheap, but we don’t mind saving up for this very special experience, as there’s nowhere else quite like it. Outstanding food in the Coach House, and exceptional service. Everything is special: the linens, the towels, the décor, the huge beds, the spacious bathrooms, the well-kept grounds, the peace and quiet, the lovely breakfasts. The walled garden is beautiful, and one of the best examples of the kind we’ve seen (husband is a professional gardener & landscaper, so that’s saying something). Our first time experiencing one of the hot tub rooms, and it was perfection – so relaxing. Will definitely be booking one next time. Tip: to turn off the hot tub, you have to hold the button in for a few seconds. We couldn’t work this out, and had to phone and ask the night porter, who was very helpful, as are all the staff at this beautiful, professionally run estate.

Went to a wedding which was flawless. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of the wedding and reception. We stayed overnight and found the experience far from perfect. We had been quoted £200 to stay but ended up paying £290. We booked a late breakfast on arrival at £30 but ended up paying £33. When trying to purchase items from the shop there were discrepancies about prices so I decided not to bother. We found there was no provision for disabled apart from the wet room in the accommodation. The information in the accommodation was sparse and we didn’t realise we had use of a hot tub until we were leaving. There was one disabled parking space at some distance from reception. Luckily I didn’t need wheelchair access and relied solely on my walking stick but it was a struggle.

We stayed at the Hotel for my wife’s birthday and had booked a days spa retreat and then stayed overnight with a meal at the coach house. First the spa, it is a really lovely building and the setting is incredibly tranquil. The general facilities are lovely and we were able to use the pool, hot tub and steam rooms multiple times with no difficulty (the plunge pool is erm bracing!) I understand they limit visitor numbers and you could really tell it was quiet and peaceful. The treatments were astonishing, I’m usually somewhat nervous at spas but here the staff were so lovely it is was utterly relaxing and enchanting experience so thank you. The food at the spa was really tasty all in all I couldn’t fault the entire experience. The hotel itself is stylish with well appointed rooms and very comfortable beds and felt luxurious. The food for our evening meal in the Coach house was very good in a savour every bite and feel sad when it’s over kind of way and breakfast was equally tasty. Staff throughout the hotel and spa, were kind, professional, helpful and utterly lovely. The grounds are beautiful with special note for the walled garden which is breathtaking. All in all an absolutely perfect stay and we will definitely be back.

We visited Middleton Lodge back in April as we were attending a wedding there. Service was amazing; gardens were beautiful & the food was lovely! What a memorable day/ evening! Planning our next visit as the Sunday dinners looked amazing from what we seen!

We had a warm welcome upon arrival, with friendly and helpful staff setting a positive tone. The room was well-appointed and comfortable, and dinner in the restaurant was a highlight — the attentive service and quality of the food made for a memorable evening. A particular standout was our visit to the Walled Garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith — a truly inspiring space and a real asset to the hotel. On the downside, the showerhead in our bathroom was quite limescaled, and the breakfast service lacked the enthusiasm and attentiveness we experienced the night before. Overall, a lovely stay with just a couple of areas for improvement.

We stayed here as part of a road trip… it was one of the highest-rated (and more expensive) stops we booked, so we expected a proper 5-star experience. The food was genuinely very good and the spa is truly lovely (though you pay extra, which isn’t obvious when you book). But beyond that, it felt far from 5-star. There’s no welcome drink, no help with luggage… just a map and directions to a car park, then you’re left to drag your own bags over gravel (where wheeled suitcases are useless) and up flights of stairs to your room. For £300 a night, the room itself was also a letdown: unbearably hot on arrival (in England?!) with no air conditioning and not even a window opened in advance. It also wasn’t particularly clean (especially the shower). Overall, some parts were lovely, but calling this 5-star while offering so little actual service feels off. For the price, we stayed at cheaper places on our trip that were far more comfortable and welcoming.

We have visited twice now in June, including the spa and restaurant. We have fallen in love with the place, it’s our second home now.

Absolutely perfect couples getaway. Beautiful rooms, spectacular service and top notch food and wine. We've stayed a few times now and nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are beautiful too and worth an explore. We always book a dairy hot tub room and I couldn't recommend one of these rooms enough!
